Stand alone engine management...

Hey guys, I am just curious to see what some of you guys were running for aftermarket stand alone engine management control. I was looking at the megasquirt and it seems ok but have an issue. I am retaining the automatic transmission, and will need a way of controlling the lockup of the torque converter. I have heard that megasquirt is a cheaper unit cause you have to assemble it yourself. Now, I have a factory turbo sunbird ecm(with the prom from an auto car) as well as the wiring harness. I don't have all of the engine parts for the turbo however, like the boost controller(i think the piece that goes by the fuel rail and has vacuum lines coming ut of it). I assume that it *should* work, as long as the computer gets all of its ouptus/inputs wired in correctly. Only problem is that the sunbird turbo is designed to see a dizzy and the daewoo motor is set up for dis with no provisions for a distributor. Just not sure what I should do. Any thoughts??

Trying to become the most modded out N/A 2nd gen sunbird 4 cylinder on the org with a..... screw that, I'm going turbo!!!

2.Slow OHC I4
Ported cylinder head, intake and exhaust
Relocated IAT with a custom WAI with a 6x9 K&N conical filter
All this, and I still can't go fast.............yet!!

Well most Stand alone units already have a boost controller built in. I personally havent decided if i want to go with FAST or a AEM unit. I have the AEM now and i am thinking of returning it and getting the FAST XFI. As far as megasquirt i have read that a lot of mazda's like MX-6's run it. I guess it would just be trial and error. But i am also Automatic and this whole experience should be fun. good luck and if you need any BOV's i have 3 of them id be willing to sell one.

Where did you get your AEM from and how much did you pay for it? You said that your car was an automatic also, correct? Does your AEM have the ability to control the lockup of the torque converter? This is probably one of my main concerns to keep fuel mileage/drivability from becoming an issue.

If you are building a car to race, gas mileage and reliability are gonna take a dump, thats something you might have to except. i still get decent gas mileage, but nothing like i did before i did anything to my car..
