Hey i just picked up a 1997 sunfire gt black 5speed with just over 130k and i want to turbo it so far this is what i have come up with.:
T3/T4 turbo
Tial 38mm wast gate
Blitz intercooler
HKS bov
MSD Blaster Coils
MSD DIS-2 digital ignition ( takes care of timing/detonation issues with 20 degrees or so of retard)
MSD 8mm wire set
Innovate Motorsports LC1 DB Wide-Band O2 Kit
A'PEXi AVC-R II Boost Controller - Limited Edition Black
Magnaflow dual exhaust
ford brown top 350cc injectors
AEM adjustable fuel pressure regulator
ebay "log style" manifold
i wanna run about 9-10psi on the stock 2.4L
ALTHOUGH I AM LOST WHEN IT COMES TO THE MAF maybe a 2bar?
i @!#$ up on the injectors i wanna use 550 cc

you wont find a MAF. these cars only run MAP.
1997 Cavalier Z24 - 16.3 in 1320 and falling...
550c injectors are way big for 9-10 psi really
youll be more then fine with 440cc's

Also look into to a rebuild new timing chain, tensioners, oil pump ect and clean up everything. that you don't spend money on boost just to hear it go pop.

agreed, go through everything first just to be safe. and have you done a compression test on the engine yet? might not be a bad idea either.

Wow. did the thought ever cross your mind that this individual maybe wants to hear what others have to say that have already boosted there LD9? My guess is no obviously not. God forbid some one on the .ORG wants to get a more experienced opinion than just jumping in and doing it.
Thanks "Josh G" my point exactly... My plan is to finish a turbo build drive it back and forth to work (keepn my foot out of it unless any hondas wanna step) and when it goes and then build the engine. maybe lower compression? mild cam grind? so what about the injectors and or map or maf???? witch one...
You have a MAP.
I ran 370cc injectors with 10 PSI from a T3/T04E (S/C reflash) and just barely hit high 11's for A/F.
I cant s/c reflash the 1997 ecu right? Any advice on the msd dis-2 or anything else to make the computer not freak out running bigger injectors and 10psi of boost?

Ok ..well first off i was not being a prick....
But it you re read your first post it does not in any way ask any question...if it was "hey i got this so far what else do i need?" then that would be a question.

I was simply asking you what you were meaning by the post. So sorry i forgot to throw in the lol. If you also look i did suggest going to a smaller injector but hey lets jump all over the one thing that may sound somewhat off.
If your going to go and jump all over what people say.. better make sure your damn close to perfect.

It was not meant in a bad way..maybe feseeshuse(sp) it was 5am for me..was funnir in my head..either way...you have a decent start but i would change a few things..
Boost controller...if it was me id hold off and wait till you have a good tune...with an external wastegate just get the spring for he psi you want. Saves you a few bucks.
The fpr id maybe not go with...look into hpt and a fmu.
As i said with the injectors id go smaller..about the 440cc size..which will be a little large for your needs but gives you room to grow.
The msd stuff isnt "needed" but wont hurt..
if you have hp tuners you dont need an fmu. and the msd stuff is only gonna be really good if you are at the track. and as far as running it till it blows be careful with that. cuz there is a chance that you wont be able to keep all 4 cylinders in good shape when it does.

can i use hp tuners with my 1997? and i like the look of the apexi boost controller. exactly what do i need for tuning and fuel? aem fuel rail etc???? thanks
right now i don't have hptuners, im using a walbro 255 with ford brown tops and an fmu. i like the apexi as well, but i use a turboXS manual boost controller. and yes 97 and up works with hptuners. and have you ever used the AVC-R? they are extremely complicated...
and i dont care much for the dual exhaust, but that is my opinion. i really dont like dual on anything but a V8 with true dual.
