like stated...
i bought a cav in december its an 04 cav, manual tranny, 45,000 miles
im thinking boost will get me to 260 whp np but im afraid of blowing the cav up... can someone talk me into boost reliability over nitrous (which was my original plan)
and how long have you guys been running your eco's on boost, and how much psi?
hahn stage 2 kit, keep it at what it comes you will be fine...
but get someoen to hp tune your car so it runs at the correct afr's. the 04's are notorious for staying at 14.6 under ful throttle no matter what

If you're sketchy about boost, I would never talk you into a turbo kit over a nitrous kit. Nitrous is there when you WANT it, not all the time like a turbo. Less maintenace, less worries, less money and less time.
Each has it's advantages--I run both on my car. It's ultimately your call and I think you need to "qualify" yourself a little more in order to find out what's best.
PS: you won't hit 260whp with just a turbo setup; you'll need to get into internals to hit that number reliably.
i agree about the internals omega... im at least wanting to hit 200-220 whp
im thinking nitrous is the way to go for me
haha i would be afraid of something too
and thats being shocked at how hard it is to get a cavalier up to 200-220 hp, especially if you are talking wheel horses
you need to do more reseach son
dude ive done research for years.... just never on an eco.
ive always been a 2200 guy, and knew what that engine was capable of. with the im like a fish out of water.

lol bolt on a hahn stage 2 and you've got 210-220 whp....

500 bucks for nitrous
2800 bucks for hahn kit
I know which one you'll pick Shaune

lol joeys probably right... plus gas being almost $4 is another reason not to have constant boost available.... ive got a lead foot lol.
id go turbo IMO. with as much money you spend filling up a nitrous bottle you could have a turbo system on your car. just my .02
Brandon
im still weighing in the two...
im just afraid of blowing the cav up with turbo... where as nitrous when i run out... it gets a break till i can afford a fill up.
if i had a turbo id put a constant strain on the engine.... thus blowing it. where as nitrous it only a few times a month.
You will be more likely to blow your engine at the 260hp mark with nitrous, due to the fact that it is a very sudden increase in power. Where as with turbochargers and superchargers you have a more gradual increase in power. Both will add stress to your engine, but the "shock" of nitrous will do more than constant boost. Think of it as a punch(nitrous) v.s. a push(boost), which hurts more?
I also remember reading about the eco GM tested to see how much hp they could make. They started with a stock eco and added nitrous. They ended up blowing the rods/wirst pins at around the 270ish hp mark.
My personal opinion, i trust boost alot more the nitrous.

thats why you use a progrseeive controller
progressive controller
i know alot more about nitrous then i do boost. another reason im thinking its safer.
and also i lowered my want to 210-220 hp.
thats more than enough for a fun little dd
Get the GMPP supercharger. It's designed for the eco and engine longevity.
eh, why stop at 260whp? thats still nothing "fast"
your taking a rish everytime you mod your motor with boost or nitrous, hell your taking a risk just starting a stock cav up and flooring it. Anything can happen
im not wanting anything out of this world fast...
i just want something more fun to drive.
Go with the gmpp charger good for dd and reliability.

even when you run out of nitrous, and the car gets a break... it doesnt heal. the damage is done regardless.
also for nitrous, you have to refill, once my car is running, ill always have boost
i wont run out haha.
and not that many have got crap for it but sometimes the location of the nitrous and having it hooked up is illegal.
there is more to turbo'ing a car vs nitrous, neither help the motor. your call in the end
for around 210hp the gmpp sc kit is the best bet since it was made by GM for the car. that will give you a little extra fun in daily driving.
if you are worried about blowing it up.. save up and get a forged bottom end.
