Thursday, March 27, 2008 5:28 AM
My car is misfiring when under boost. Now here is the catch, it seems to only do it from 3rd gear and on. Im running the NGk tr6 plugs and i have the coolingmist injection kit with a 50/50 mixture. But it does it weather the meth is hooked up or not.... Anyone have a clue??? its going to a car show in a month and going on the dyno in front of alot of people and i dont want misfires....

Could the spark plug gap be off and blowing out your spark? I believe i have heard of that problem before.

Does it only misfire under boost? What about low-load boost?

Mine has had a misfire issue under heavy throttle load, 4500 rpm's and up.. but I suspect it's a lean misfire and will deal with that issue this season.

A bit more detail would help!

mine gives me a misfire code when under boost, at half throttle though. i know mine is from being too lean because my MSD pump is a POS.

what do you have your plugs gapped at? When I got my 2.4L S/C kit on my car last summer GM recommended the .50 gap But I was getting big misfires under boost. So I gapped down to .30 and no more misfires. I'm also waiting to get my MSD coil swap installed but I have no mounting brackets(as I'm waiting for information in another post). So I hope once I get the coil swap in so I can increase my gap a little.

Check your plug gap would be first start. Also get your coils tested.

yep, that is the only issue i can think of when it comes to the gm s/c for the 2.4l- is to gap your plugs a little smaller .

Make sure your car is at full temp before you get into boost and regap them plugs to .030 or .032 . I know when I got into boost when my car was not warmed up yet I would misfire badly.
