For the 2.4 LD9 which runner in the turbo manifold, or cylinder is the best to tap to put this EGT gauge into? Does it matter which runner we use for this motor?, is there a certain cylinder that gets hotter than the other 3.?
Lemme know your input, thanks.

I don't know for sure, but I've heard of people putting the EGT probe into the cylinder that gets fuel last in line on the fuel rail, because it would be the most likely to go lean first.

Hmmm, how do you know which cylinder gets fuel last? I thought they all got em at the same time? Thanks though, I see what your saying, makes sense...

# 1 (edit) Gets fuel last. I have no experience with egt gauges but, for oem apps., they go in the down pipe before the cat.

actually they want it in front of the turbo. if it goes in the DP after the turbo you generall subtract 200 degrees.
Soo #1 gets fuel last? Yeah like Vince said, definately before the turbo..
Thanks fellas.

mine is after, in the dp. i only did that because it was such a pain to get the turbo on and all. and didnt want to take it all back apart. i just know to do the math that it loses 200 degrees.
Turbo diesels always put in before the turbo, in the collector. Post turbo isn't a constant XXX degree drop....its a function of many factors which I really dont want to deep into but a direct major factor is the efficiency which can be all over the place while driving.
Josh so whats your recommendation for me on where to put it?

This is how I have mine set-up with a Hahn Stg 2. My temps don't go over 1400'F at the end of a 1/4 mile drag.
^It should be right between the A and H at the bottom of the letters in the HAHN emblem "IF" you want to get a no bull$hit reading that you can trust. If some of you are worried about turbulence....the spot between the #2 & #3 cylinders have the least amount of flow in lb/min so the turbulence will be minimized, not saying it wouldn't be present. Negligible at best I'd say.
Also keep in mind turbos operate on re-orienting the direction of flow across the vanes so....... yeah, im not going to take that any further.....my head will hurt.
EDIT: Keep in mind you will need to weld a in a NPT bung fitting in the manifold, dont use the compression band technique, it will leak when under pressure. Post turbo it would work just fine.
