I wil post some pics in a bit, but i pulled my SC off yesterday and found the inside of the manifold, and the ports in the head to be lightly coated in a redish goo... reminds me a bit of the grease they put on new brake rotors when you buy them... it is like a sticky film.. not greasy or anything.
This wasnt there a month ago when i redid my head. but it is there now. just wondering where this could be from?
Sounds like dexcool to be honest. Is your head gasket leaking or anything?
Sounds like dex cool for sure
Might wanna do a compression test
ok nevermind... it is more green/black than red/orange... i dont know why i was thinking red
oh, and it is worst in cylinder 1... and less as you move down... cylinder 4 is almost clean.
Blowby possibly

first do a compression check, then check your egr. whats your idle like, does your vacum guage flutter?

It is a 2002, so there is no EGR... vacuum is perfectly stable, no fluctuations at all...
I have the engine half out of the car at the moment... So not the right time for compression testing.
i also noticed when i took off my K&N airfilter and PCV line and set them of the ground i noticed a lil puddle of some goey redish liquid... much darker than dexcool... and alot thicker. and it is all the way out at the air filter.
Last time i had my blower apart i noticed my PCV line was full of oily crap. i cleaned it out the best i could before putting it back on. But i didnt think oil was supposed to make it into the PCV...
could this be engine oil mixing with the red K&N filter oil? and maybe a touch of water/meth in there too?
I am just really confused here.
it could be, Ive heard horror story of what over oiled K&N's could do. mainly to maf's but I have seen them gunk other stuff up. do you have any effect on preformance. ?

what air filter are you running?
other then that, looks fine, mine would do that too, before i want with water injection.

I am using a conical K&N almost bolted right to the TB.
it is a real K&N not a cheapy
sounds like you might be over-oiling the filter. ive had my k&n on my car for 7 years and never had a spec of oil coming through. also...do you make sure the filter is completely dry before you oil it? that would also cause the oil to come through.
Could just be the filter. Maybe try a catch tank though.
the red from the filter could be oil.... but that doesnt explain the greenish crap on the intake... no ideas there?
just red crap that picked up green crap?
Your intake is just going to get a litle oil film in it over time. That is normal. I am betting it is just mixing with your K&N oil from the filter.
FORGET GIRLS GONE WILD WE HAVE GOVERNMENT SPENDING GONE WILD!
Id bet its the air filter.
Best bet, if the car isnt running incorrectly, is to clean everything off, put it all back together and run it for a while, with a different air filter to see if anything changes.
I used "non chlorinated" brake parts cleaner to clean up some of my hoses and parts a while back, it blasts off all the oil/grime/grease/dirt instantly, and dries quickly. I dont know how good or bad it is to use on parts, or if there should be side effects, but ive done it 3 times on my motor/parts and seen no harm from it thus far.
Good luck getting it solved.
It sucks having a problem or an issue that no one can figure out 100%.
.... was there a problem?
