Are there any of these tubular manifolds available for the ecotec, not a fan of the log style manifolds....

does it matter?* You* will probably never need to use anything but a log. Get an ecotec in it first.

yes they are made, yes they are very expensive. why arent you a fan of log style?

They are made and swly in progress of being designed...im doing it but i love overkill

We have been considering making one but not yet decided. Price would close to $800 most likely, not sure how many people want to swing that much.

has anyone tried the dsm trick? just taking a DSM manifold and cuting off the flange then welding an ecotec one on. I heard the ports are damn near identical.

^^^^hmmm, sounds interesting....

do it!! post pics when you are done.

You are talking about cutting the flange on the head, and welding an ecotec flange on correct?

where do the DSM ones put the turbo though? is it somewhere with enough clearance for the eco guys?

I don't claim to have a great deal of knowledge on the ECOTEC engines, but I thought I remember reading a while ago that the DSM trick was only for the intake manifold. I could very well be wrong though.

Regarding a turbo header though, every turbo engine will benefit from one over a log, but the gains are entirely proportional. So at low power levels, the gains might not justify the cost. One of it's benefits is reduced cylinder temps from less exhaust gases traveling back into a cylinder durring cam overlap. Proper cylinder pairing with a twin scroll flange/turbine will help in addition as well.

The only reason I would rather the tubular over the log is performance wise. I read somewhere on the org a long time ago regarding an LD9 build, a guy picked up like 60 whp from just switching from the log style to the tubular style.

Yeah, exhaust ports on a 4g are wayy too big to even come close

Blew it up, build numbers coming soon

ok :-) then all really need to is find one that isnt. I mean theres got to be some aftermarket frendly head that comes close to our ports. I mean it doesnt even need to be dead on, just close enough to where the ports line up, and the manifold drops the turbo down.

Tubular manifold, turbo facing down or up, probably going to be around 4-500.00. T304 stainless steel, welded insided and out. Our manifolds will hold together--we've yet to have one fail on even the highest horsepower applications.

external gate or not atomic?

btw didn't mean to flake out on you back in the day.. hit a lot of probs and side projects along the way.. glad to see you're still going thru with the design!

T4 flange + external gate = sign me up!

Yeah no problem man. Ive been so swamped with local cars here its hard for me to get this production stuff goin.

External gates will run about another $40 depending on cost of gate flange.

Look at a log manifold and tell me you dont understand why people aren't a fan of log style
Log manifolds are a complete waste of power. In order to obtain the same levels of power through a log manifold compared to a tubular design, you have to run higher boost. It's quite possible to see 25-50hp gain from a log manifold to a tubular manifold depending on your setup, and when you're already spending this much on a turbo setup, why not? My log manifold is coming off this summer in place of a tubular

If any of these companies that want to make them need a test fit car mine is sitting in storage right now. Give me a written guarantee that the car will be under lock and key and behind a security system and that you take responsibility for any damage done and the car is yours for whatever you need. It's not getting run again until LATE 08/Early 09 at this stage so it might as well continue to help someone out.
