ok that is the turbo kit i found on ebay, i just have a couple questions about things
1. i know its a sin to buy something like this off ebay but i dont feel like spending 3500 on a hahn kit, does it look decent too you ?
2. i know this has probley been answered before but how much boost could i run on the stock 2200 motor?
i basically just wanna know other opinions of this kit, i know i will probely half to bend some of the pipes myself, and i would half to make my own downpipe but if its a decent kit you cant argue with the price
IF YOUR GONNA GO DOWN ... THEN GO DOWN IN FLAMES
DO IT RIGHT OR DONT DO IT AT ALL ..... A "STOCK" MOTOR CAN HANDLE 6-10 PSI, BUT BUILD IT AND DO MORE, ONCE YOU FEEL BOOST YOU WILL WANT MORE!
well i will say it is the most complete E-bay turbo kit i have seen, but the quality of the parts will leave you stranded.
You can run some boost on a stock motor.....but not much, that really depends on the tune.
Well you will need some welding done (wastegate flange, bov flange) a new complete exhaust and a lot of time! I hate how people think that a turbo is easy and fast to install, I have been working on my car for 3 years, and im just getting it tuned in 2 weeks!
welding is not a issue for me and with me and my friends maby a case of beer we are hoping to have it done in a weekend ish but as far as the parts go as far as i can tell everything looks good quality i may just half to bend some pipe ... but for the price
yes or no
IF YOUR GONNA GO DOWN ... THEN GO DOWN IN FLAMES
no, everything looks like cheap quality.
they throw in more stuff than the usual e-bay kit....even as far as an fpr, but nothing in that kit says "quality" to me.
you can probably run that mani for a while, and use the i/c piping, couplers & t-bolts. I would even say the intercooler is usable, but there are a lot more efficient ones out there, anything bar & plate is better, companies like spearco and garrett take lota of time in developing high flow end tanks and such.
the turbo will probably blow a seal shortly after installing, especially since i dont see a restrictor (doesnt mean it isnt there...), bov and wastegates have been proven to "work". but if i am investing that much, ill spend the extra for some name brand, trusted equipment.
the oil seals are gonna fry, the wastegate will work at 12.5 lbs, the boost controller isnt going to control anything, and that front mount is enormous! bout the only thing that will last is the manifold.
so no its not worth it...

ok so ill just spend the money and do it right but sence were on the topic , witch kit would be better a hahn or a garrett?
IF YOUR GONNA GO DOWN ... THEN GO DOWN IN FLAMES
link link link
this i the link to the garrett turbo kit i was talkin about i found it by going threw importperformanceparts.net and it took me there but its about 1k cheaper than hahn and i want other opinions on it
IF YOUR GONNA GO DOWN ... THEN GO DOWN IN FLAMES
i like garrett, but i really cant tell what turbo is... i like both kits... but i would try to find someone that has each and get some opinions. like horsepower and such..
Veritas Aequitas
the turbo is a garrett t25, which is a relatively small turbo...very comparable to hahns kit with the 15g. A couple things to consider....
Hahn includes these, which i didnt see on TS's site:
Hi-volume inline fuel pump
Fuel Injection Control Unit
But I personally prefer TS's manifold. Custom cast, very durable, and nice design. To get the TS kit to work properly, you will have to get the fuel mods that Hahn already includes. Of course in my opinion, this will give you more chance to "personalise" the kit, and leave some room for future upgrades.
JOHN, isn't a T25 slightly smaller than a 14B? Also the T25 is the stock turbo for a 2nd gen eclipse gst .... right? I just saw one the other day, and it looked really small compared to my big 16G.
Hahns kit for the LN2 does not use a 16g, it uses a 15g.
The t25 is a smaller turbo yes, but should work well with the Ln2. As does the 15g. It is really a matter of preferance between garrett and mitsu turbos. Out of those i prefer garret.
Plus you can always upgrade down the road. there are adapter places for the t25-t3, so you can run a t3, t3/t4 if you want to upgrade.
ok so garrett has no fuel mods, a better manifold and is about 1k cheaper but hahn ha fuel mods and a little bigger turbo hard decision... im thinkin garrett
IF YOUR GONNA GO DOWN ... THEN GO DOWN IN FLAMES
thats the one
I would go with, but dont think your are going to save 1k by getting it....you will have to buy more parts to make it work properly.
this does suck a little bit caz im a big fan of mitsubishi, also the garrett kit has the option of goin with a t25 or a t28 bb turbo so if i wanted to go bigger than hahn i could
IF YOUR GONNA GO DOWN ... THEN GO DOWN IN FLAMES
I am thinking you can upgrade to a 16g or 20g on the hahn kit, just like you could upgrade to a t3 or t3/t4. I am not that good with the mitsu turbos, so you may want to verify that.
well ill just close my eyes and throw a dart... lol but hay john is you kit custom caz i love your pipes
IF YOUR GONNA GO DOWN ... THEN GO DOWN IN FLAMES
yes, my kit is custom, and i love my pipes as well....as perverted as that sounds.
well thanks for the help man i may just start collecting parts its as good of a idea as any
IF YOUR GONNA GO DOWN ... THEN GO DOWN IN FLAMES
if you are going to go that route, I would strongly recomend you check out the group purchase forum, and get on of the RD Fabs manifolds there. best mani you will get for the price, and wil a lifetime warranty.
it will put the turbo in the same spot as mine.
they also have downpipes available in the gp too.
I really like to piece things together, that way I know every part in my kit, and i can select things based on my end goals. there is nothing wrong with an off the shelf kit. I just find the custom route more fun (but it usually takes longer)
well can you answer me this ... witch kit would display the turbo and piping caz i like to show off under the hood and i would love the kit to be "in your face"
IF YOUR GONNA GO DOWN ... THEN GO DOWN IN FLAMES
both of them will somewhat "display" the turbo....since the exhaust mani is right out front. The reason I like the DIY kits, is because you decide where your pipes are run, how big your intercooler is, and every other paramater of the kit. An off the shelf kit usually has a watered down system, so that people dont smack it on thier 120k stock motors and blow it up....its a liability for them to make a super poerful kit. As far as the 2 options you are looking at, Hahn has an installed pic on thier website, and the TS kit will be very similar to that, with the turbo being in a slightly different location due to the different manifolds.
