was trying to get my blower installed today got to the belt. I know how the tensioner works we had it pushed all the way back as far as it can go and the belt still will not go one its seriously like an inch and a half from making it does anyone have the measurment for the belt or a part number for a belt?

make sure the belt is on all the other pulleys right, and the a/c hose is not interfering with the belt.

It's a PITA, we needed two people when I first bought the s/c to get the belt on. One pushing down on the tensioner (crow bar between the engine lift eyelet and a block of wood) You might not have the eyelet, mine was with the cobalt/ion setup I used.

In the future buy the tensioner relief tool from pulley boys. It's worth it's weight in gold.

its not the tensioner i bought the kit off of someone on jbo it was never installed i think its just the wrong belt because even if we had pryed the belt on the tensioner would have stayed fully depressed so you would never be able to get the belt back off. I am about to go measure the belt ill post the length in a few minutes.

12590815 - belt part number if I am correct.

folding the belt in half and flattening it down i got right under 34 inches so the total length should be around 68 and i saw that the cobalt ss/sc belt is 71. I guess im gonna try to find a belt at the parts store this week i really dont want to have to wait on shipping =/

ok some updates sorta this is so frustrating I have been waiting so long to get the car boosted (kit has been sitting at my house since october). anyway im pretty sure my belt is the cobalt stage 2 belt because with a 2.9inch pulley im pretty sure it would fit and it has 6 ribs i know the cobalt ss/sc belt is 6 rib but the belt with the kit should have been 5 already correct?

the belt you should have should be 5 ribs. Gm sells the actual belt as I gave you the part # above. get the correct belt and be done with it all.

another question whats the best way to hook back up to my aem intake with out the k&n elbow. I was thinking getting two 90 degree bend silicon elbows to do it? isn't the k&n elbow just two 90degree bends?

Basically yes, This is my future plan as well, right now on my car i just cut the stock cobalt flex tube shorter to fit to my AEM intake, its not perfect and its a slut to get the clamps right and tight but with the battery out its no big deal.

no use in making a new thread just a quick question. I know alot of the ld9 people run meth, and i see tom is running it on his eco but is anyone else using meth. I have the cobra heat exchanger set up just havent installed it. I was looking into meth injection also because heat and humidity suck here in alabama wanna keep things as cool as possible. found this kit though wondering if anyone had any opinions on it. http://www.alcoholinjectionsystems.com/p101/Stage-1-Adjust.-Boost-Activated-Trunk-Mount-Water-Methanol-Injection-System/product_info.html

cool thanks. I know from reading on cobaltss.net about meth injection alot of them were talking about tuning for the meth to get the most gain out of it with the added octane. Of course regardless of the tune your still going to get the cooling effects. Also with the GM reflash I wouldnt be able to tune for it. What about you are you using HPT or are you on the GM flash?

Gm reflash.
91 is the highest octane you can buy in california, so I get a little extra detonation security with the alky kit. That's the main reason I bought it.

with the 3 inch pulley on the reflash you aren't having any fuel issues? Im gonna stick with the stock pulley at first but I do plan on going down to 3.1 or 3 by the end of the year. The reason I ask I remember platcav was using bigger injectors afpr and I think an inline msd fuel pump when he was running smaller pulleys on his sedan his were under 3inches though I think. Basically im wondering how small of a pulley can you get before the reflash and the 36lb injectors give up.

If you go here http://www.rceng.com/technical.aspx
36 lb injectors should be good for around 250 hp with 80% duty cycle

Re: eco s/c help

Thats off, With the stock 36lbers making 196 whp on a mustang dyno at the peak of my Rev which was 7350 if I recall correctly my Duty cycle was 111%.
At 6488 my dutycycle was 98%

That was with the 36 lb injectors, stock fuel pump, using hpt's injector constant formula.

Re: eco s/c help

Yea that calculator must be for totally optimized conditions, even the advanced calculator at the bottom says that ~36lb injectors should be good for 200hp...

I guess its calculating bhp rather than whp? That would make more sense.

I love reading threads like these - a select few who dyno their cars can help so much when it comes to tuning

Re: eco s/c help

so in that case is the gm reflash only good for the stock pulley?

the map sensor reads boost so the map sensor WILL be able to provide fueling for more boost since it can know read Map pressure past 105 kpas. as long as you Mechanically can supply enough fuel (ex. like snowman larger fuel pump and afpr to stabilize fueling, Larger injectors), the reflash is still very usable. However if you use larger injectors fueling will be off since your injector constant will be off.
