fuel pressure gauge

well i should be recieving my saab turbo kit today and even though i wont be installing it for like another month i had a couple questions. im under the impression that once the kit is installed i should try and get my idling fuel pressure to about 30-40? and then at wot it should be around 80 and t hen i can turn the fmu up or down according to what the wideband is reading, ill be using the cartech 2025, so to set the fuel pressure while idling i should disconnect the vaccum off of it. last question would it be alright to just connect my fuel pressure gauge to the port on the metal fuel line? sorry for all the questions lol i searched about three weeks ago and a bunch of pages came out with old threads and i just finished searching and the most that came out was two pages worth of stuff.

No. Idle fuel pressure is set with idle vaccum from the engine going to the fuel pressure regulator. It should be around 40 lbs.

At wide open throttle with no boost the fuel pressure should go to about 50-55 lbs. You have to remember that under boost, the regulator is having air pressure againts its diaphram. So while you are under boost, your fuel pressure would be closer to 65 lbs. That is basic theory for all types of fuel regulators that are vaccum controlled.

I am not familiar with this kit, but it seems that it controls your fuel purely by fuel pressure? Sorry, like i said im not familar with it. I use HPTuners with bigger injectors, a adjustable regulator, running E85.

The port on the fuel line you are talking about is called the shreader valve. It is possible to hook up via this but you'll need an adapter. I'm getting one soon I'll send you a pm when i get the part number.

As for your kit. It's best used with the Gm s/c reflash. Best relyability. It adjusts timing and fuel, where as your fmu will only do fuel. To get the timing retard your going to have to fake a 2 bar map. Which involves HP tuners, Which costs $$. So long story short. you need a reflashed ecm. Your best bet is to attend some meetings at your local chapter and get some help. your going to need it as your kit is more than likely 50% of the final parts your going to need. Expect to spend more money after buying it anyways.

Attend those meetings!

lol i would love to attend meetings but seeing as im basically the only modified j in my town that would be kinda hard lol, i would get the gm flash but i would like to just run the fmu for right now seeing as the guy who had it before me ran it like that forever and it worked good for him. and i was always under the impression that the begi/cartechs could adjust the idling fuel pressure and wot pressure seeing as how hahn only sends the fmu with there kit and they say u can adjust idle fuel pressure with it

if any one else whos done this can help me out, ive searched under cartech tuning, cartech adjusting, cartech 2025, and have only seen other people kind of mention it but not give any responses as to how its done. i thought there would be a bit more on this since everyone has mostly been using this fmu till hptuners came out, if anyone could respond here or pm thatd be great, thanks!
