I need someone with knowledge and is familer with high boost levels. I really need a responce to what this might could be. I have no one else to ask this to beside every one here. When boost builds up to 21 , air/fuel stays good. No higher then 12.2. 1 degree knock but quickly goes away. As soon as i am on it for around 2 seconds with that high of a boost level, My car acts very weird. Im going to explian this the best i can. It sounds like a misfire maybe, it goes like wom wom wom wom wom wom wom really fast and the car zerks back. Its hard to explain what it does. As soon as the boost level goes down to 18 19, Its fine. I already thought maybe spark blow out. Gaped plugs to 30. Still does it. My build- 8.9:1 wesico. Eagle rods. I did not get the dual valve springs. Because machine builder told me i do not need them. My guesses are - Need more fuel? Spark blow out? I need dual valve srings? Thanks alot for reading. Im open to suggestions. I will tell you all the information i know. Motor is 2.2 ecotec 5 speed 2002 cavalier. Milage maybe 1000. 16 G turbo.

guarnteed spark blow out. if your running a stock IGN. people always seem to leave there IGN system alone.
now I will need to see logs to confirm it, but if your pushing 20+ lbs of boost with a 16G your deffently gonna need to upgrade your spark.
btw this isnt me running my mouth for the nhey sayers. I forget if it was hypsy or suncavi but one of them was having this excat issue.

Yup, spark blowout. Most definately. I say time to upgrade to MSD or the like. Try re-gaping the plugs to .025 and see if the problem is somewhat alliviated. If so, even a little, then that is the problem. Also, there is the slight off chance that your ICM and/or coil packs could just be getting weak, they do break down over time. The cassette-waste spark setup on the older (!) Eco's can frag out if the coils are trying to up the voltage too much.
Currently #4 in Ecotec Forced Induction horsepower ratings. 505.8 WHP 414WTQ!!!
Currently 3rd quickest Ecotec on the .org - 10.949 @ 131.50 MPH!!!
I will try to regap them tomorrow. I had in my mind maybe spark needs to be stronger but wanted to see what you all thought. Thanks so much for your help. If regaping them helps does msd need to be installed? Not knowledgeable on it but i will be soon as i look into it. Thanks
yea like posted above sounds like spark blow out, my car was gapped at .025 on 19lbs
R.I.P. Brian Klocke, you will never be forgotten
Could be a slight valve float occuring as well. Anything over the 19 psi could be pushing them over there limit at high RPM. Slight valve floating will cause blown spark like symptoms as well due to the misfire it causes. Best thing would be to get some data logging as others have said. I ran 23 PSI with the 20G without an issue on stock ignition. Little suprised the shop you had build your motor shied away from duals knowing you would run boost levels that high.

23 psi on a 20G. Bet that was some nice power. Must be nice. I bash myself for not getting the duals.

if i heard right 23psi on a 20g, isn't that pushing it a little too far..i mean i was pushing 25 out of a 14b and that alone ended the brand new rebuild kit at 1500 miles..lol

23PSI on a 20G is nothing.
I can't even believe you'd compare a 14B to a 20G. World of difference.

I know the housings are crazy different, but the turbine and compressor are damn close
they even make 20G sleeper turbos that fit inside a 14b housing.

Yeah but running ~25PSI on a 14B and ~25PSI on a 20G are different beasts.

the 20G is good for about 30 psi MAX before it runs out of its GOODNESS.
And yes the Civic SI that was messing with me on the road Im pretty sure pooped himself when I pulled away from him that insanely hard. I have to admit I even pooped myself.
14B < GET OUT OF HERE!!!!!!!!!!! LOL

i had this problem. 18-19psi on my 20g w/c116 and it was fine.. soon as 20-22, it started cutting out. i backed it way down because i was worried about it detonating. spark plug blow out just like everyone else said.
just curious, what did you eco guys use to fix this? im on the hahn porfueler right now. my ignition is stock
12.5@116 2.0 60ft
hay i was simply wondering, i had a 14b huffing out at 25psi and also a 20g fried thrust bearings form the same psi..on the talon though not a J-car

Im on the stock 1 bar. How much did that port fueler cost you. It keeps the air fuel right where it should be under any boost level correct?
