Low Oil Psi 10 at idle
Friday, June 20, 2008 3:07 PM
My oil psi is really low! 10 psi at idle after about 20 mins of driving.

Running saab kit.
I have glow shift gauges.
Oil psi at startup is 80. after about 10 mins of driving it will go down to about 20. this is all it idle.
After 30 mins it starts getting low. around 8-10 psi it idle and only gets to about 30 at wot.
i've read that ecotecs should have about 60 psi at warm idle.
What could be the problem?

when i cold start its about 50 to 60 psi. after its warm and idleing its at about 18-20psi. i tapped into the plug on the side of the head.

check your oil to make sure your not leaking. check your gauge connections. idk about glowshift gauges but my autometer auto calibrates every time i start the car...

With oil pressure you should have about 10 PSI per 1000 RPM, I have an LN2 and my gauge is in my feed line to the turbo after the cooler, and I run about 5 PSI at warm idle, with about 30-40 at WOT.

NORMAL !! I thought the same thing at first...10k miles later and still no problems.
I run Mobil 1 10w-30 and have about 14-18 psi (hot) on a 90 deg day.

I dont think its a normail reading, but I dont think the reading your getting is right. I had a pepboys guage, in my car for a while and besides leaking a @!#$load of oil, the guage would read 0 after a really hot run and slight overheating.

my car still works so Im gonna go ahead and say that im good.
