Ecotec Tubular Manifold

Hey guys....

I'm in the process of rebuilding the car AGAIN. I lost my fuel pump at 100MPH chasing some Evos in FL this past fall and I've finally got the cash to have a new cell and pump installed. ANYWAYS....while the car is down at the shop they want to make me a tubular manifold in the hopes that they could sell them in the near future and they wanted me to see if there was any interest at all. They would initially be designing 2 variations, one for my current 20G and one for my future toy the GT35R. I was told they would run between $400-600 depending on how hard it was to make.

So is anyone interested???

And yes this does mean the car will be heard from again

No thanks. lol...

But in all seriousness.... what do they plan to build it with. Material types & thicknesses / welding technique are key.

Were thinkin our price to be around $700 + shipping, we can use any turbo flange needed, t2, t3, t4, td05 (mitsu), or any other custom one needed. We'll post some pictures saturday

RaGiN Z (the fake 05) and LD9Stunner: Got a problem you'd like to share with the class? If you ain't interested then keep your yaps shut.

Bonnett...You know that for you anything will be done Just say the word.

Chris: I'm not sure off the top of my head. These guys are Evo/DSM guys and have made some killer DSM/Evo manifolds for locals here. No one that I've talked to has ever had a problem either. I know quite a few of their customers too just because I'm there any free moment I get. I'm going to a DSM/Evo meet they're having tonight. I'll try and get more info then.

03: I'm sure they'd make it if you made a down payment. They've made all sorts for their customers before and I know they have some T3s in the shop they could use for mock-up.

The shop wouldnt be AMS would it?

I cant see how they could turn out manifolds that cheap. They make top notch stuff. Well worth the price if they can.

Im pretty sure Hypsy is in florida right now so i think AMS would be outta the question......but i could be wrong.

I'm back here in Chicago when I'm not driving actually.

Atomic: The shop isn't AMS but a competitor of theirs that is doing all the work on my car now since I just don't have the time since I'm on the road 5 or 6 days a week. I wish I could afford to have AMS make me a manifold. Like you said their quality is top notch but they'd want at least 10 orders before they'd even think about doing it and it would cost a bit more.

Also for anyone interested we did put the tubular manifolds up for a PRESALE price, $100 off if ordered before the official release, currently the manifold has only been tested on non-supercharged cobalts, it will fit any engine bay with same or more room in it than the cobalts. Manifold is a "ram-horn" style manifold, turbo flange is about 1/2" off center twards driver side to help fitment around the water pump. Pictures coming soon.

Cold rolled steel flanges tho? You guys couldn't get Stainless flanges at all to match the runners?

Thats the only thing that would shoot it down for me if I was going to buy one. Personally after working with strictly stainless for the past 3 years wouldn't use anything but it. Can't wait to see your design tho and good luck with the sale.

Actually we used to use all stainless flanges.... we seen no real advantage of having them over mild steel other than that they cost more. check the welds we run on them in our pictures of the ecotec manifolds. When welded properly the welds are just as strong. We use a different filler rod than listed for the mild to stainless welds. Also, the stainless flanges expand a lot more than the mild steel ones which usually causes problems.

Our stainless flanges actually cost us less than mild steel, but we still have to drill out the holes for the studs in out shop because the flanges we get are cut by a computer plasma cutter.

We've never had issues with the flanges expanding causing fitment issues either. If anything when they get heated up the stainless becomes tempered and harder than it was before. I found that out way back in the day before anyone taught me about the properties of stainless.

But if it is working for you guys, by all means keep it up. The manifolds look great.
