i was on ebay today and found that jdm makes a full T3/T4 turbo kit with everything for the 98-02 cavaliers. i was just wondering if this kit would work with my 04 ecotec. if not does anyone know where to find a kit like this for the 03-05 ecotec engines?

Yes and no...some of the components are usable, but you won't be able to bolt the whole kit on. Ecotecs are flipped around from the previous motors (our exhaust manifold is by the firewall, intake is by the radiator.) For starters the intercooler piping kit would not be routed correctly to fit in an Ecotec engine bay, and I'm pretty sure (correct me if I'm wrong someone) but the exhaust and intake manifolds from a non-ecotec will not bolt up to an ecotec. The oil return line will probably end up being too long and will sag, needing to be shortened...but you could use some of the other things (turbo, wastegate, boost controller, BOV, etc) then buy the rest separately, but in my opinion that would be a waste of money.

Also, my experience is that complete ebay kits that are model specific NEVER fit the way they intend. (hell I've seen intercooler kits on ebay that claim they will fit Cavs, Civics, AND neons, lol) I just finished helping my buddy do a turbo install on his Del Sol, he got a kit similar to the one you are looking at and it was an absolute nightmare to install...downpipe was on the wrong angle so we had to cut, rotate, and re-weld it...holes in the downpipe-turbo flange did not line up and had to be redrilled...oil lines were absolute crap, and so on.

Do your car a favor, save up some more money and buy yourself a Hahn Racecraft set up or something similar. Or piece together a system if you have the know how or the willingness to learn...Turbonetics, Greddy, Blitz, TurboXs are all good places to start looking for quality parts. When it comes to boosting or any major engine mod..you get what you pay for...cheap out and you are guaranteed to have alot of headaches with it.

Hope that helps you a bit

PS...my buddy's del sol with EBAY kit...2 weeks after the install the wastegate spring failed, shot the boost into the 20s...and to make a long story short I'm now rebuilding his blown motor...
