I am finally about set to S/C the cavalier. I have a 2003 Cavalier w/ the 2.2 Ecotec w/ 80,000 miles. My question is... Is it too late to boost the car and it still be safe? I know the GM S/C is made to work with stock internals. Should I upgrade the internals since I am already at 80,000 miles? I have all bolt ons on the car and I plan to keep the car. Any opinions are appreciated. Thanks
are you planning on running anything besides the SC out of the box??
Smaller pulley, alchy injection, etc...??
its never too late. i boosted mine around 80k, ran like a champ. got a built motor now though

Yep daily driven too. and not daily like once a day, daily like 50 miles a day if not more everyday of theweek lol.
sweet man... i have almost 50,000 on mine so i figure ill boost eventually. when gas prices go down lol

That ain't gonna happen any time soon, bubba.
Caution: I have an odd sense of humor, so don't be offended by the things I say
MMMM, HIDs
i cant say anything mine has been boosted since 3665 kms, but now has 106,000
but ya as long as you dont try to go crazy you will have no problem, my brother in law had about 150,000 kms when we put his blower on and has no problems,
so do it and enjoy

i dont think gas prices will ever "come down" maybe drop a few cents, before climbing back up a dime...
Boosting wont hurt your MPG much if you keep your foot out of it.
and 93 octane only costs $0.10 more per gallon... this has never changed. back when i got my license 87 was 80cents and 93 was 90 cents... so if anything, i look at it as now is the BEST time too boost. high octane used to be 15% more per gallon... now it is like 3%. and think about it... a full tank of 93 will only cost you $1.20 more than a tank of regular. if you can pay $4.00 a gallon, but cant handle $1.20 a tank... you might want to consider a nice schwinn or huffy.
oh... and not to sound like the old guy.... but NOW is always the best time to enjoy the "CHEAP" gas. it may be $4 a gallon now... but next year it will be $6 a gallon... and you will look back wishing you enjoyed the gas back when it was ONLY $4.00.
i know in high school i thought "damn i need a compact car, i cant afford gas, it is freaking almost a buck a gallon now" man i wish i had a V-8 gas hog back then looking back.
so i say stop making excuses and boost now while gas is cheap!

ha yea, when i got my license it was near $1 a gallon. when it went up to $1.50 i remember people saying "omg we shouldnt go on vacation this weekend, gas is almost $1.50!!!" but yea.. never too late man, and if you are worried about saving money on gas, you probably shouldnt mod your car and buy a bike or moped. i wouldnt mind a moped actually, haha
gl with the project

My boosted and almost fully built LN2 is a champ on gas still, I actually think its doing better than my stock L61... However when I step on it, its a hog, but normal driving, it does better than ever
As far as boosting a high mileage motor .... Ill just quote myself from a thread with an almost identical question just asked....
Jazer {AzulKav} Turbo Chica wrote:Yes you could blow the motor.... No you may not blow the motor...
That depends on various things, as has been discussed previously, but I'm feeling nice sooo....
Whats the engine's life been like? Well maintained? Beaten on? What is the current condition of the motor? What turbo you want to run? What psi with said turbo do you plan on running? Do you plan on modding any part of the engine or leaving it completly stock? etc....
Bottom line... what are you willing to risk >;-D
And really, these are things to consider no matter what the mileage on the engine ^.^
Noticed that your going SC not turbo, but still basicly same concepts
(just swap out turbo size & related boost, to pulley size, lol)
