Thursday, August 28, 2008 3:31 PM
Ecotec 16 G turbod at 15 psi. Boost will not stay at 15 or where ever i put it . It will go to set point then it will go down 3-4 psi in 2nd and 3rd gear.4th gear will hold it pretty good. How do i fix this ? tuning doesn't work when boost goes down by it self that far. Please help.

DSM Turbos dont always hold boost higher than 10-15 psi all the way to redline. Get a bigger turbo if your wanting to run 15+

Its internal. Yeah i would love to get a bigger turbo but money. Does the 20 g turbo loose boost like the 16 g? I know there has to be a good many people out there that run the 20.

Borg Warner S200 or 3LM S299. You'll never go back to mitsubishi.

Hell, even Garrett. I'm not a big fan of them, but anything is better then mitsu imo..

No offense but who really gives a @!#$ how fast I woulda gone on a different turbo Chris. He didn't ask if a GT30R/GT35R would be a better turbo. He asked for help explaining why he was loosing boost WITH THE TURBO THAT IS ON HIS CAR. Not one that someone else says he needs.

I also don't see how thinking outside the box helped a stock motor, stock clutch, stock axle, minor suspension mod, drag radial car in any way. Now when it comes to Julius V3.0...there's some outside the box thinking at work there.

And i answered his question,

same answer as a lot others gave him.

I was just doing a comparison.. Turbo VS turbo. go on the DSM\SRT boards...mitsu turbos love to boost spike and fade down.
Dident mean to ruffle your feathers.

I know if only there was some sort of device which could measure this and and make wastegate adjustments according!

It is setup specific, there is no universal number, it could be stock. Determining this is part of tuning.

I have to take exception with negative information regarding Mitsubishi Turbochargers.

We've gone 11.65 @ 118 MPH in our Sunfire with our Super 16G.

20G performances include a raft of 11 and 10 second cars, with a short foray into the 9's with a small shot of nitrous.

Our Super 25G Drag Neon went 9.20's @ 155 with nitrous...on an internal wastegate, no less!

Our TwinTurbo Z06 'Vette (dual Super 20G-N's) makes more torque, along with more HP per pound of boost, than brand-X equipped rivals.

And for the ultimate, we've run deep into the 7's @ 190 with 20G on a series of multi-championship winning Pro Street bikes.

These tubochargers offer efficiency that can rival anything else out there, but at a much lower cost than the hype-driven (and, as time has proven, not all that durable!) ball-bearing GT's. They boast a 12 month, umlimited mileage warranty that is in effect regardless of usage, 5 PSI on the street or 35 PSI on the track.

Overall, an outstanding combination of performance, durability, and affordability. Take it from someone who's used everything out there since the 1970's!

It's a Garret GT40R. There's no Mitsu turbo that big that we could get our hands on readily.
