Hello everybody, I was looking for info about turbo kits for my car and I get here, I already read a couple of forums around and all that and right the way sing up for an account, it seems like here I can get some help, or at least I hope so...
I own a 95 chevy cavalier with the 2.2l OHV, 2 doors and right now in some friend's shop prepared to put a turbo kit on it, my expectations are just get around 300-350 horsepower to the wheels, so here is when I don't know what to do. I'm from mexico, and down there at least in the place I live, theres a couple of turbo cars, most of them from factory, so it's kinda wierd that someone try to do this kind of stuff, and most people who does it are rich people who have the money for do it (you can tell that im not rich by the way...) Down there is about 2 or 3 grand to do this job and just put it around 7 or 8 lbs but I want to go bigger, around 15 or 18 lbs, I already have forged pistons and rods, head job doned and a new camshaft, is set up for low compression and just waiting for the turbo kit. I been searching on ebay and some other pages and the prices are around the same, 2 grand, but then I found a couple of turbo kits that for me, sound too cheap, something around 900 bucks for the whole kit with intercooler and all that and they say that you can boos 30+ with those, I don't know, but for me, thats just a good price, im gonna get paid at the end of the month and im thinking on buy it, so here is when I need some help, how good are they? any other cheap recommendations? please help me, and I promess that I will upload some pictures when im finish it...
I'm working in the states until december, so I don't gonna see my car until then, but I really got a lot of hope in that car, I don't know if some of you guys feel the same, but at least, nobody down there like my car, and I really love it, I like to race it a lot and it will probably had a turbo some time ago but I blewed up my engine 3 times racing it with just the head job, CAI, and exhaust, and just with that I beat a lot of really good cars, so for some people too is kinda leyend. It's gonna get flat black paint on it, no shine at all, but I mean really black, I will probably buy some carbon fiber for the hood and trunk, some headlights and taillights too with HID and also im gonna fix the interior because It's a little bit recked, I already have a rollbar on it made by myself for some school project but im gonna remove it to put a real one, a 12 point hole set, that one I will probably buy it on line too, so I will like some help with that too, I saw one pretty cheap for me too on www.jegs.com, so I don't really know if those are good too.
For now, I will only like to get an answer about the turbo thing, because I want to buy it as soonest I can, cause I probablly gona go down there by october for a week to get a job done, and I will like to try it at least for that time, then I will wait until december. I guess that some of you guys know how I feel about my car, ambicious and desperate to get it done, I love when people with really fast cars are defeatid by mi in my little car, and if I been doing it for years with mi stock engine, imagine what I can achieve with some more power....
Hope to see at least one answer, I really love my car, and I really want to make it faster, no matter what anybody says...
Thank you, and thank god that I finally found a good forum about this cars ahaha Take care.
first i have one question ....... how do you plan on tuning this engine after you are done........ a 95 is obd1 so no hpt..... and if i rem the ecu is not tuneable
You want 300HP out of a 2.2L OHV? HAHA Good luck. Better dig DEEP into that wallet of yours.
I used to race cars, now I race myself.

Whats so funny about it? It is possible. Granted the OP needs to ditch the sidefeed injectors and go top feed, but 300whp is definitly possible... And yes, the SDS system is a decent system. I have tuned a friends Beretta (with built 3800 SC ) and had great results. I would noy buy a "kit". Build your own setup with quality parts, you will be much more happy.

Oh it is for sure POSSIBLE but with the apparent lack of knowledge the OP has it's gonna take a lot of money because a lot of the work is gonna be getting done elsewhere. He just came off as another "I have a 2200 and want to go 11s" kind of poster.
The first suggestion to the OP is to read, read, and then READ MORE. Oh and learn too.

My goal is also 300hp from the 1995 2.2 ohv ln2 motor. It's not easy. that's for sure.
I plan to use megasquirt to tune it. and top feed conversion is already done. Now to just buy the turbo and crank up the boost.
300 is probably not going to happen with out some bottom end work, you might be able to do it but these motors aaint that strong
i recomend the hahn racecraft kit
fully built 2200-TO4E T3/T4-HP tuners-373hp @18psi
Yup, have to have the bottom end done for sure!
to the op - You will spend much more money in the end, then you will want to, i garuntee it.
You'd be better off trading it in for a newer cavalier (2002 +) with the ecotec then purchase the HRC stage 2 kit. Much less of a headache, much more fun, much more cost effective. Garuntee you'd have much more fun with it to since the aftermarket support is so much larger then the ohv.
