GM M62 Reflash
Thursday, June 19, 2008 5:23 PM
I have searched through the forums looking for the answer to my question...can I get the GMPP reflash from the dealer without buying the entire supercharger kit? I have the part number of the flash I need, but I am hearing something about another number that the dealer has to call and get. Anyone know anything about this that could help me? I have duplicated the kit by getting used parts for about 1/4 of what the kit costs. Oh, and the supercharger had an INTENSE hub on it when I got it. It has a 3.0 pulley. Will the GM flash and components support this pulley? Or am I going to have to get other supporting mods?

The reflash might support that pulley, it didn't on my car. It does on others, maybe mine is dumb....

They should do it as long as you have the parts installed.

I think im going to take my chances with the 3.0 pulley then. Have you heard about a VIC number or something like that that the dealership has to get in order to do the flash? I am just worried that you needed to buy the kit in order to get the Code to get it flashed.

Anyone running the 3.0 pulley with the GM Reflash? I am curious if it will be ok. Are the stock ecotec plugs going to be good enough at the factory gap???

Ok, so I installed my M62 kit last night, and I called the dealership today to make an appointment to have my computer reflashed, and they told me they will need to see my receipt to the S/C kit. I dont know how I am going to do that seeing how I didnt buy the kit, and I bought all my parts used. Anyone know what they need off of it or if they are even going to do it for me now?

try another dealership maybe? I bought my kit off of someone here on the org (it had been sitting on his shelf still in the box for like 2 years) but anyway I live in a small city in alabama so maybe the dealership just doesnt care but all i did was call make an appointment take the car and the directions they called the tech line gave them my vin then downloaded the flash, flashed my car and i was on my way it was about 65dollars at my dealership but no needing a reciept or anything like that just my vin.

It's not like the 2.4L M45 gm s/c reflash, you can't just pay the dealer the labor it costs to flash the computer. With the Eco kit they require you to have purchased the kit to receive it. There are probably ways around it if you actually know someone at the dealer but that may be the only way around it...

I did a stage 2 upgarde on a Cobalt today, the paperwork that comes with the kit has a special confirmation number on it, to prove purchase. I guess they're doing the same thing for the M62s now. In the past I hadn't had to provide that, they'd just ask for my dealer code, the VIN, and whichever CAL ID I was after.

I would call around to other dealers. I bought my kit legit but my dealer didnt ask me for any information or proof. I made an appointment and went in and they charged me one hour labor

Was all you needed the part number for your transmission?

Is the GMPP S/C Reflash the best you could possibly do with tuning? Could you use HPTuner to tune it even better after that? or is the reflash only to recognize the S/C?

As far as I know, and someone please correct me if I am wrong, HPTuners doesnt have a 2bar map conversion for this car. Which means you wouldnt be able to use the tmap properly. You could "fake a tune" with HPTuners using the stock MAP and IAT, you would have to do your tune based off of RPM, and Air to fuel ratio. Problem with that is, youre not going to be able to play with timing a whole lot. Some, but you would be able to have more timing with a 2bar map conversion file. Alot of people think the more boost you are running, the better but that isnt always the case. I have seen cars run better with less boost and more timing. Every car is different though.

I didnt give them anything..... from what I understand they have to call the GM tech line anyway and they have to choose from auto or manual...... so they dont need the part number from what Ive heard.....

Problem is it's not that easy.....
I need to locate a VIN # from a 2000,01,02 LD9 owner that has installed a GM supercharger kit....My GM dealership (which my parents neighbour works for) told me that they can reflash for me but I need the VIN from a car with the reflash already completed...
He said that the reflash code is readable off their pc's when they pull up the VIN.....this way here I can up load that persons reflash into my car...Apples to apples...same car...same engine....same download....

Problem is getting someone to trust you with their VIN....

Hopefully the J-body community here will help me out..

PLEASE pm me if you can help me out..
