GMPP supercharger install
Wednesday, December 03, 2008 8:25 AM
I stopped at the local chevy dealer and asked them how much it would cost me to put in a supercharger. All they did was laugh and say it wasn't possible, even after I made them look up the part and they found it. Where is the best place to get my supercharger installed in wisconsin. I would do it myself but I don't have the time and I just don't feel comfortable doing the whole project.

Grow some balls...

lol just kidding ...

No honestly though, it's not hard. If you've ever used a ratchet or a wrench - you will figure it out in no time. Is it really worth the cost you're going to have to pay (~$800-1000) to have it done by someone else? It's a learning experience and you'll likely find that after it's all said and done you'll be proud you did it yourself.

its not all that hard to do the only big thing i can think of is when u have to grind down the corner of the head to clear the idler pulley, thats that only big thing, but that is also still pretty easy to do with a grinder or file.

I think I will do it myself prolly. Thanks. How long should it take roughly for someone that has never done anything major like this before.

where in wisconsin do you live? im curious what dealership you went to..

its not too bad, grinding the part on the head is the biggest pain i can think of right now..

give yourself a weekend so you dont have to rush, just remember you will need the reflash so you might want to consider getting a spare PCM for it. unless you have HPT and tune it yourself right away..

I am putting the Supercharger kit on myself, it isn't hard from reading the GM instructions, I would also try and get stock cobalt SS parts instead of buying a new GM kit which costs $3300

Im piecing my own kit from some cobalt ss guys who are getting rid of their stock parts to upgrade..

I think im just gonna buy a salvaged cobalt ss motor and take the parts off of that. If I just bought the engine, what else would I need.

if u buy the engine everything is pretty much there but u have to make a t/b adapter to bolt ur t/b to the s/c and go to gm for a reflash unless u use a hpt.

Yes and right now GM stop making/selling those t/b adapters, but MD LD9 is trying to get a prototype done and im one of a few that are going to order one..

Didnt the adapters have a part number?

I thought you could but maybe not..

Anyways, we are all waiting for MD LD9 to make those adapters, can't wait..
