Twin charged set-up (Pics)
Sunday, January 04, 2009 4:26 PM
I'm posting this for another member Ben Woosten. he had posted a while back about his twin charged set-up. Today we got together and I tuned it for him. I also took some pictures. Car runs strong!!! Currently he is getting 15.184psi off boost. I have advised him to turn the boost down, which he is planning on running a underdrive pulley to lower the charger boost. He also needs bigger injectors. The SS/SC injectors are not cutting it.

the wastegate reminds me of one the little air compressors for air air ride setup LOL

sucks he had to turn the boost down but tuning is everything and if you aint got enough fuel to support that 15psi then yeah, you did the right thing in advising him to go down.

Are you scared of the changes coming? The answer is on the inside.

You know you bring up a good point and something I have not looked into alot on his set-up. We are not seeing any bad affects so far.

The headlights are HID's.

Well he has not turned the boost down yet. The Wastegate spring is a 10psi and the charger puts out 5-6, so that is the 15. The duty cycle only gets high once you get over 105mph. We saw 143mph today. It is holding a nice safe AFR. He will have the boost down soon, but he is taking it easy on it as well.

This is a 100% stock LD9. Only mods are charger and boost. Even on a stock clutch.

I got the same reaction when I said I was running 10:1 with the M45, then it became the "recomended" setup.

I like the turbo placement.

Yep, hook up a longer vacuum hose somewhere pre-turbo.

WOAH! im new to this turbo thing but can you really have your turbo set up on the side like that? i've only seen them behind the motor. or is this ok to do cause of the super charger?

He couldnt fit the turbo behind the engine. And you can mount the turbo anywhere you want, just some locations are more efficient.

^^^ yep and when he says ANYWHERE you want.. he means it. one person has even done a custom remote-mount setup, which locates the turbo clear at the BACK of the car where the stock muffler goes.

Hoping to have the car on the syno tomorrow. Sad part is the owner is swapping to a Ecotec. Will probably be done in a next few weeks.
