did you use the stock clip to fasten the injectors to the fuel rail? if so did u have a problem with them staying in place? mine would always get loose and today car just randomly started leaning out, i pulled over and to my surprise gas is spewing everywere! it was coming from the second injector from the passenger side. clip had fallen out and was resting at the bottom were the plastic spacer things are. pulled the fuel rail put the clip back in and no more leak from there. this has me traumatized as i dont want this to happen again, any suggestions as to what i might be able to do?
I don't use any clips. You need to have your rail sit lower if they're falling out... or get new injector o-rings (or slightly bigger ones).

This could caused a BIG BOOM....lucky you caught it...get a 02 fuel rail.
exactly why i'm not comfortable using the LSJ injectors on the newer style rails.
if you swap to an 02 rail, they'll fit fine
i think im just gonna grind the mounting tabs down a bit so the rail sits lower since my rail is already tapped for the gauge and im using the hahn fitting with the hahn/cartech fmu
Since I was incorrect (sorry) I fixed my post.
Did you modify the rail to sit lower?

FU Tuning
ok just to clarify i have a eco running the saab kit
I lost a clip, and most of a tank of gas. I too have been worried about it happening again. Where is the best place to get new stock replacement clips anyway?
Haven't modded ther rail car hasn't been driven prolly do it this weekend

QFT. with an 03+ rail use the squirls measurements from a previous post of a MINIMUM of 60mm oring to oring injector.
I am using LSJ injectors & clips and I just modified the holes in the fuel rail bracket to make it sit lower and I havent had a single problem. Car has been turboe'd almost 2 years.
Jazer ur using them on the eco?if so howd u mod the rail?
Buy a second set of Gray spacers in the head and cut the lower 1/4 off them and epoxy them onto the other ones... Voila.
This is where they need to sit in order to not leak...

cody i checked ur link but i didnt see anything about cutting and epoxying the second set of spacers? i have another set so id really like to do this just for the life of me cant picture how the spacers would come together
cody, thats a great idea. I had the thought of machining extended spacers so that short injectors in the 03+ rail wouldn't be a problem anymore.
the 2.4 and the 2200 have a different mounting scheme than the eco rail.. slotting the holes, or grinding it down isn't enough.. you have to do a combination of both.. if you've seen an eco rail you'll understand why.
So longer cups can fix the problem. If i can get my hands on a spare set, i *might* be able to make longer ones. Anyone have spares laying around?

2. An act or instance of tinkling.
cavipower- I don't have any pictures of the epoxy process as I thought of that idea talking with someone else and not wanting to have "floating" injectors. I have done it myself either because I have been too busy with other things.
Kyle - Yes it will. When i pulled the cups out and just installed them fully onto the injectors that's where it sat in the head when i put it back on.
So just so I can picture it haha u put spacers under the spacers?

Ha ha... pretty much yes. I would almost even imagine if you could find some stainless steel washers with the same diameter as the stock spacers to bump them out roughly 2/8" or 3/16"s that would be the ticket! If you choose this idea, don't use mild steel.
Actually now that I am thinking a little more about this... I bet I could make a quick contact to someone to have make them out of aluminum and have them fit in the bottom of the injector holes no problem and would solve a lot of people issues with this having to change rails for only a couple bucks. I'm actually going to jump on this right now and see what happens.
plz do so! id buy them in a heartbeat but for right now im gonna cut up my extra spacers i have laying around, about how much would u say i should cut off?
Start around 1/4" so that you have room if need be that if they are too high you can sand them down some. I'm thinking the exact distance is 3/16"s tho but i am not 100% sure of that.
alright sounds good thanks for the help! are you gonna see if you can get some aluminum adaptors made>? i think thatd help alot of ppl on here
I already asked the person before about getting actual new injector spacer cups made longer in aluminum but that didn't go over too well and he thought it would be a one off deal and wasn't interested too much. But I am sure I can get him to make me some aluminum washers the thickness needed to bump the current gray spacers up enough to seal the injectors.
that would be cool send me a pm if he could do that fo ru
