I'm wondering what the stock boost setting for the garrett turb is? I'm running the saab setup with the garrett turbo and at first I was only hitting 4psi,tightened a loose coupler and was hitting five/six psi,i found a brass barb on the compressor that wasn't connected so I connected the wastegate directly to that hoping that would fix it since I thought that wat would be causing the leak. Nope now its only hitting two psi, what could be the problem? I connected it how I used to have it and same thing two psi. Now my friend is telling me that the stock boost setting is only like three psi, is this true? I've checked all couplers and vaccum lines and I don't have any leaks
Well for a a LK9(saab 2.0 engine) my buddy a saab tech says its 12.3psi but he didn't specify if it was a HPT or LPT set-up.
i always thought it was six or seven, any one else care to add some input?
Well I called him back and he said the HPT is at 12.3 but the lowere pressure turbo does sit at a lower PSI he just didn't know how low.
3 psi would be a waste of a turbo. I'd guess it's somewhere in the 12-15 psi range. But I dunno.
Remember, you're not a 2.0 liter LK9, you're a 2.2 motor. You'll have different airflow properties than the 2.0 motor.
So I should just connect my hallman boost controller and let'er rip? Lol
run a boost leak test.... if that clears, turn the boost up a little bit see how it acts and check for more leaks.
That's what I'm gonna do, my friend is gonna help me make a homemade tester, but pretty much I am gonna double check all my couplers and vaccum hoses, wat else should I check?
check the pipes also.... its possible one of them could have a hole in it.
the garret turbo is the smaller of the two that came on the base model saabs it put out .70 bar in the on the saab motor which is like 10psi
the Mitsubishi turbo was the larger one on the arc and aero models it was .85bar on the saab which is around 12psi

yellow cavy the numbers you posted are if the turbos are on the saab car. they have a computer controlled electronic boost controller to achieve those numbers. if you put it on the cavy with just a vac line on the wastegate its 6psi i believe on the mitsu td04. the garrett im not sure. but they achieve the higher boost number with a boost controller..
stock boost on my saab 9000 is 12.5psi im running 17psi
HPIM1095
thanks to tweeking the apc f and p pots
the apc system can be installed on any
turbocharged car think of it as a cheap electronic boost controller
you can pickup for $40 at a junkyard
Well I just rerouted and zip tied all my vaccum lines and rechecked everything one coupler was a bit loose also put on a greddy type s and voila 7psi! I think the stock bov wasn't holding the boost
