Ok installing turbo on my car please read

i just want to verify several things i have searched but most of it is outdated i would like the newest information, i have a 2004 pontiac sunfire 2.2 ecotec

i have purchased/ or soon to be
t28 turbo w/ t3 flange
t3 eco turbo manifold
fmu
32lb cobalt ss injectors
intercooler w/ pipes and bov
downpipe
oil line kit
aem wideband

now something i really need to verify is when installing all of these things will i need a reflash and a tmap instead of my map to run or will it run fine on 7psi.

i have no local shops that have hptuner so i am unable to run that.

basicly my main question is will ir run descent will all of these items not refashed or tuned?

if either one of these need to be done is it safe to drive to a gm dealer non reflashed?

also if anyone has detailed pics on how the fmu is ran please pm me with them or post them for everyone

thanks again for taking your time to read this, again yes there is a lot of great information if you search but i would like the best straight foward answers as possible and know that i have been researching for about a month on this.

no tune = no boost
you can throw positive manifold pressure on a stock tune you will blow it up period..

get a reflashed pcm or buy hp tuners

ok so would it be safe to drive about 20 miles out of boost to get it reflashed?

also is it true you need a 2002 fuel rail to run the cobalt injectors? you can not gring down the stock mounting spots to fit? how far off is the size?

if you are going to drive 20 miles to get the reflash, unhook the wastegate arm (assuming you are running an internal wastegate) that way the wastegate will be open and run pumping positive pressure into the stock engine with no tune

Good list there. Make sure you have the right oil fittings before getting started.

On a stock tune, it will NOT run fine if you see any boost at all. Not many places will sell you the reflash if you don't have a supercharger on your car. Do you have a hookup somewhere? You NEED HPTuners or the GM Reflash before you see any boost at all.

No, with the Cobalt injectors in, you'll run very rich, and they're not even the best size injector for your motor unless you modify your fuel rail.

It's safe, but your car will run like crap. I did it, many others have too. You can run the tmap sensor UNPLUGGED with the stock tune until you get it reflashed. Don't plug it in or your timing will be all dumb.

I can do this in a few days hopefully.

You got it buddy, any further questions, you can pm me.

He is only runnign 7 psi on 32 pound injectors on a fmu. Why can't he run that without the tune? he also has a wideband. Hook up your fmu turn fuel pressure down to like 30 hook up your wideband and see what happens. Is it a ajustable fmu?

it is a non adjustable fmu,

i have another question can i retain my stock maf if i tune with hptuner? and can hptuner set base fuel pressure or do i still need an adjustable fpr?

He can't run without a tune using only an fmu because his stock computer will try it's best to maintain a 14.7:1 afr during boost until 6200 rpm. Bye motor.

You don't have a maf sensor. I think you're talking about a map, yes you can, but you can't change your timing depending on boost pressure. Not a huge deal really. An adjustable fpr or fmu changes fuel pressure. You can't do it with HPtuners, the car's computer doesn't control the fuel pump. It runs at a set pressure all the time.

yes you are correct about the stock computer trying its best to maintain a 14.7 but then why is there many turn kits out there that just come with a adjustable fmu. No reflash. An adjustable fpr with a fmu is fine for very low boost levels. Fuel pressure with a 12:1 fmu would be very high under full boost. Am i wrong here? Hell i ran my car for a few years 7 psi with fmu without a reflash.

yes, great price,hp tuners will run you somewhere round 500-550,and then the dyno cost is pretty high i believe........go with that, let them fix everything up for you perfect

How does Hahn RaceCraft do it? They sell there kits with a adjustable FMU.

You can run an AFPR and an FMU... I do it daily at 8psi no tune.. just make sure you monitor your wideband. Mine says around 14 while crusin, 12s under boost right were it should.
