I just bought an 04 cavalier with a supercharger on it. But I did not realize it was not tuned until I got it home and now I really want it to run. I don't have a lot of money and I have a friend at a GM dealership that will help me flash it if I can get the VCI number. Thanks for any help.

all he needs to do is phone tech line and give them the vin of ur car and tell them its an automatic and the can send them the reflash.
He tried and they wanted an activation code but i don't have one and was hoping someone might know it.
its funny how some dealer ships can do it and others cant. did they tell them that u bought the car with the s/c on it already and it wasnt flashed, or can u get a hold of the seller of the car and see if he has the code.
is it the same as a serial #?

If the car is running well then it's probably not ready to be tuned. If it had the injectors for the supercharger, it would run and idle horrible. If it had the new map sensor used with the gm supercharger reflash, it would maybe run.
Look under the snout of your supercharger and make sure you have the proper 4 wire map sensor in your intake manifold.
it doesn't run good. I got to excited about buying the car i really didn't pay attention to how well the car ran.
A VCI# is a one shot deal for one VIN. If you try and use a VCI from another VIN on your VIN get ready for GM to get pissed.
is the s/c a gm kit thats on ur car or did the guy before u put one from a cobalt ss?
I think it be from a cobalt ss
try another dealer maybe? They only charge an hour labour to do it. I had no problems with no VCI when they flashed mine.
does anyone know a dealer in michigan that will do it? And I thought I read somewhere that all the VCI numbers for the s/c retune were the same.

my brother had shaheens in lansing do the reflash on his 04
will they do it without the paper work from the kit?

A VCI is VIN specific. They may all be the same tune but each VCI is for one VIN only.
Give up man.....
Why do ya think I haven't said anything...
I could explain that he has the PART NUMBER for the flash CONFUSED for the VEHICLE CONFIGURATION INDEX and how that's to do with warranty's EPA ectra
or how the TEC-II give EACH Vehicle a VCI Number for WARRANTY....
Or how, even back in the day (Yes Read in to this people..) You could go to a dealer (need a good one though) and have them call TAC to get a CUSTOM TUNE for a car.
But we are not going to get in to it.
Because, after all, You and I don't know @!#$ about GM.
