Well I’m a quarter way through the install of my GM charger that I have had for years (don’t ask me why I haven’t installed it yet). Now that I have fully committed to the install I need to address the obvious fuel issue. To explain, I purchased my 2.4 in 99, but the motor was subsequently replaced by the dealer in 2000. The timing belt cover label says it’s a 00 motor. Now the question is, do I have a 99 ECM or a 00 ECM? Can anyone tell me how I can differentiate the difference between a 99 and 00? I obviously would be thrilled to just get the ECM re-flash.
I think as long as you have the newer style (skinny) injectors you should be able to get it reflashed. If anyone near you has HP Tuners they can tell you exactly what year pcm you have.

I thought most if not all 99's had skinny injectors, so I don’t think that will help.
Any more thoughts?
It'll work with the reflash regardless, don't worry.

You can reflash your 99 with an 00+ tune.....you'll lose some gauges and crap.
If you have a BCM you have a 00 computer if you do not have a BCM you have a 99 computer.
Ask WHITECAVY about his. He has, I think a 97, with 99 wiring / computer and running a 00+ supercharger tune.

He is correct. 99's have the skinny injectors regardless, and do not have a BCM. I do not think you will get a dealer to install the reflash on a 99 (unless it is a hookup). As said you will loose things on your gauges cluster.
FU Tuning
You most likely have a '99 PCM. You can flash the '00 S/C reflash tune onto it, but you will lose your tach and all your warning lights will be on.

does anyone know how to fix the issue of the gages and warning lights on a '99 2.4L w/ s/c
Nope, but I believe David did fix his coolant gauge.

You could do what I did with my old 99 'vert.... swap to the 2000 electronics. It's a major job tho - gotta strip the car and pull out all the wiring, right down to the fuel tank... then swap over a 2000-02 harness.. modify things like the headlight wiring (doesn't match up), swap over the 2000-02 airbag module, fix the airbag wiring, etc... change the ABS module to the newer style, re-bend the brake lines or swap them... etc. Lots of work... but then it's a 2000 in a 99 shell, and you just get the reflash.
About the only thing you don't need to do is swap the fuel tank... I had to do that on the 98 when I swapped it to an 03 Eco wiring harness....

Also, I believe Ruen from JBOM is running a 00 tune in his 99.
