I have a 2005 cavalier and it is my daily driver. I drive 16850.40 miles a year just to school and back and i was wondering if it is safe to boost with that much driving or if i should wait till i graduate? I like the car and dont want to hurt it. all advice is welcome.
if u plan on the gm supercharger kit then u should be safe. I'd stay with that if I were you.
i put close to that on my car each summer and have no problems with it
If you are worried about blowing it up or any catstrophic failure and can't afford to fix it, don't modify it.
ok seriously, was i the only one to click on the newbie forum when i first came here?!?!? here, click here
http://www.j-body.org/forums/read.php?f=47&i=32767&t=32767 the very first thing it tells you is search before asking, now ill help when i can, but i cant help you if you dont help yourself.
horsepower is the force that determines at what speed you hit the wall, torque is the force that determines how far you take the wall with you after you hit it.
it will be safe at the 200-250BHP level IF it is tuned and maintained properly. Beyond that at least pistons/rods are recommended, but some have gotten away with more power on stock components for some time.
I drive over 70,000km a year with my gm sc'd ecotec and no problems yet. Installed it at 100,000km now i'm at 167,000km. Going good so far.
