burned a valve
Wednesday, April 29, 2009 2:06 PM
So I burned up a stock exhaust valve...

The car didn't go lean according to my wideband, but got a cylinder misfire code..

It was #3...

I was running about 16PSI on a 16G hahn kit...

Too much heat for the valve?
Too much pressure for the 16G?
Machine shop cut exhaust valve too thin when doing the valve job?
Plugs got too hot? I'm not running any colder plugs...

What do you guys think?

you should be running a colder plug. Could it have been the reason why? possibly. could it have been the machine shop's installation procedure and tweaking of the valves? possibly.

the higher i turn it the more of a beast it becomes. well if i set it on a boost and get on it , it holds that pressure and goes down and stays about 2-3 psi lower then what i have it set 2. so latley the way i have it set to spike 26 and hold right at 23-24. But since i dont want to boost my crankcase i've made a very very sad decision to park the cavalier untill iget a diffferent intake mani. sad sad.....good times tho i will miss them!
