So I was at the track and was running around 20PSI out of my 16G...
Mid to low 12s most of the day...
Then all of a sudden it started smoking, but only when in boost...
Was wondering if perhaps I pushed the turbo too hard or if I may have hurt the motor.
I was at 11.8 AFR all day.
best run was 12.4 @ 115.66
Thanks....
what color smoke?
horsepower is the force that determines at what speed you hit the wall, torque is the force that determines how far you take the wall with you after you hit it.
is the afr supposed to be 13.1
Like you concluded... def oil...

I give up...
i'm buying a VW those people love trees, so they should love eachother too... "Andy"
probally blew the journal bearings. a mhi rebuild is only 117.00. i have a rebuild "how to" i made with pics for a 16g if you want it.
20PSI on an eco should not be "too much" for the 16g unless your reving to like 10k rpm. Search for an underlying problem.
I'll have to do a cylinder leak down test to see whats going on then...
I thought I built it right? what could have gone wrong?
Hurt the rings?

Are you nuts? 13:1 would be WAY too lean. There wouldn't be any doubt what would happen with something like that.

4 Cams...32 Valves...5 Liters...This Could Get Fun!
Our 16g snapped the shaft at about 26-28 psi back in the day. We were running about 11.6-11.8. Granted it was a used 16g out of our old eclipse so lord knows how many passes it had on it lol.

thanks for telling me what mine will run. but anyway- do you have the stock black manifold on that thing? if so , maybe the turbo oil seals blew?
Yea Id say pull the downpipe off and see if theres oil in the exhaust housing, the smokes coming from the exhaust or some steaming up from under hood?
