So im debating on taking my pile of spare parts and making a hybrid boosted motor. So the question is would I be better off using an old M90 or the newer cobalt/ion gmpp M62? I know the old m62 is way less efficient than the new ones so Im wondering how much more efficient the old M90 is. The newer M62 would definitely be more spacially friendly. I see the supercharger being remote mounted where the AC compressor goes and run through a FMIC. Just thought Id get everyones opinion on this. It will be a long project as I come across the parts when the price is right. Thanks!
M90 will be more difficult. Especially the popular ones from the GM 3800s. Snout is too long.
Ill tell you what, you make a manifold for the eco M62, you could make some money with that.
Yeah i was following the threads on that. It would be neat thats for sure but my wielding and fabrication skills are not that developed. Now brackets to remote mount it where the AC compressor is I could do and I think I could handle the charge piping too. I would use an HO manifold most likely. The ford version of the M90 from the thunderbird seems like it might fit in there. Id have to measure it though. Only downfall is no bypass valve.
the M90 remote mounted into a Jbody will be difficult. the Jbody has less clearance between the engine and radiator than my GTZ does. even in the GTZ, i had to move the radiator forward into the nose about 6 inchs. you would probably have to move the radiator even more than that on a J.
if i were going to do a SC on a J, i would use a centrifugal mounted where the A/C is supposed to go, OR design a intercooled SC manifold, OR go turbo.

Im actually not sure what im putting it in lol. I have an engine in the works for the Z and the Z's current engine plus some goodies for the vert. Just happen to have a 2.3 laying around and a couple heads. Im thinking F/I stroker engine and find a vehicle to put it in later.
Im still curious of everyones opinion about efficiency between the two chargers. older bigger less efficeint vs newer smaller and more efficient.
if its bigger, it wont have to work as hard to do the same ouput as the newer/smaller one running ballz out. so, it could make the same boost, at much lower temps all while spinning slower. I'd throw a M112 in if i could fit the damn thing!

Haha that would be cool and thanks thats exactly the kind of responce I was looking for.
