WTF m62 Pulley tensioner ?
Wednesday, June 17, 2009 4:21 PM
How the hell do I get the pulley tensioner to compress so I can get my belt on? I can't figure it out. I'm getting ready to head to work now otherwise I'd do a little more searching. All I got left to do is the belt, bleed coolant and wire up my IC pump before i can drive the car again. Thanks

On top of the tensioner their is a square piece that you can fit a open end 15mm on.Be careful not to let it slip or it will strip.

I used a pair of vise grips on the same spot.

I just used the lug nut remover from the trunk and stuck it between the motor mount and the head and pushed down it works like a charm everytime.

same

just make sure the tool is coming straight on the tensioner pulley and not from an angle, otherwise you will break the edge of the pulley off..

I used a vice grip but then the edge got rounded so I used a pry bar.

I ended up using a pair of large vice grips but.....my upper radiator hose leaks so I'm waiting to pick one up at the parts store before I can mess around with my m62. Otherwise I'm golden

9 lbs is low regardless of what you have done. I see (IIRC) 11.5 psi max.

feels great I'm happy I got off my ass and got the blower on the car. I've got some green tops on the way and I need to get the battery in the the trunk so i can keep installing other things i've got laying around.

Something has to be wrong man, check your fittings going to the boost gauge, Right before I took that kit off I was seeing 12-13 all the time and 14-15 on cooler nights

hmmmm.....I wouldn't doubt that the fittings are slightly loose, I'll get around to looking into it once I get the battery in the trunk today and the stereo rewired.
