Im new to the site, just looking for alittle info, i have a 2.2 Ecotec Cavalier, i wanna know how much boost to run on a stock engine, with a metal head gasket?
I would say 12 Pounds, Im boosting the farely stock motor rather soon and thats why ive read about...Are you going with the S/C or the Turbo?
how bout you research the site newb plenty of ppl on here have worked hard providing info for us but no one researches anymore

I have a T3/T4 Turbo, and i have researched, just curious on how much people are running
I thought it was like 10psi on stock internals...
Just make sure you have a good tune
Install the turbo, drive it very carefully to the dyno. Have it tuned professionally to about 250-300BHP (220-260whp) . See what boost pressure you are making to achieve that power and there's your answer.
Alternatively, you could look up the compressor map of your specific turbo and see where it makes about 25-30 lbs/min of airflow on your engine and what the pressure ratio is at that flow rate. There's your answer again.
No one here is going to give you a truely reliable answer based on "stock with a metal head gasket" and "t3/t4 turbo"...

There is no "set psi" that our engines can take, but GM did test the ecotec to see how much power it took to make it blow. They got to about 270-280ish CRANK hp before the first part failed(connecting rod snapped). Yea, GM used nitrous to break the rods, but soon after switched to turbochargers.

Keep in mind this was on a shot of nitrous, it's not quite the same thing as boost.
