so, which turbo do you guys and gals think can support a 400+ ecotec better, the mitsu 20g or a garret T3/04? also whats the general concensous on the GT2860RS "disco potato"? i saw garret has an essentials kit for the 2.2 eco cobalt with that turbo. my goal is 400 whp. ya i have a cavalier, but it should fit, right? let me know what you guys are thinking.

horsepower is the force that determines at what speed you hit the wall, torque is the force that determines how far you take the wall with you after you hit it.

I'd go with the GT3071R if you want a really nice setup and would hit the #'s your looking for. Maybe a GT3076R to give you some headroom so your not beating the piss out of the unit to get your goal. I have one if your interested....pm me.

I'd say you could for for the 20G but if you have the money for a GT30R setup then do that

DSM guys are doing cool stuff with the evo 3 16G so the 20G can only be better right?

I have the disco potato - I know for sure it only supports up to 350~360HP.

If you can really flow the air, it will be your weak link an you need the larger ones these guys are suggesting.

disco is way too small for 400hp.

From what I've seen/experienced on cars we've built over the past few years, you're better off buying a turbo that's bigger than what you need, rather than one that's "just right" or "close." We built a Scion TC setup with a .63-1/.70 Garret turbo and the owner took it to the dyno. The tuner said the turbo wasn't even close to it's efficency range or breaking a sweat, yet the car put down 338whp on relatively low boost pressures.

Do your research and check out Garret's mapping diagrams if you need to. Disco is definitely too small, yes.
