dyno run
Saturday, June 27, 2009 1:34 PM
a dyno came into town today and i decided to put the car on it.

my best was 175 whp and 155 tq. this seems really really low numbers. i dunno if it had to do with the humidity or what but i was kinda dissapointed. all i have on is the m62 and a short ram intake, and exhaust.

any ideas

Wtf really? How is gm saying 200hp 200tq stock, and some people are reporting really low dyno numbers, can anyone explain?

200 crank hp.......maybe does gm claim wheel hp?

Blackout- how heavy are your wheels? that will take power away as well since you have more mass to spin and it's further away from the center of the cv shaft.... just some food for thought. Thats one of the reasons I ditched my heavy 18's and purchased some light 16's

Gm claims 200bhp for the mp62 on the 2.2 ecotec and I think Gm claims 190bhp for the mp45 on the LD9. So assuming your car is a manual the would make you about 206bhp. Seems fairly accurate as an intake and exhaust would be handy to a 6whp increase. And depending on the exhaust (downpipe/header/ and catback with high flow cat) you could pick a little bit more up there. If it was as warm in NB as it has been in PEI the last few days I think that is a respectable number for no tuning. I bet your IAT's were pretty high cause I was to JD racing on thursday and it was pretty hot/muggy so that would have affected my numbers as well. As soon as you get some cooling mods your gains will increase quite a bit.

bhp is base horse power? and is bhp the same as whp or crank horsepower?

if it was a mustang dyno and your running the reflash with your water injection kit, then it sounds accurate to me.

vega - it was a dynojet. and no i wasnt running my meth kit

matt- yeah i imagine my IAT's were pretty high as the humidity today was like 90%+

Jucnbst - im not sure how heavy the rims are but they are heavey as hell.

It is brake horsepower, which is the measure at the engine. Excludes all drivetrain and other losses through the car.

i still think thats the numbers are extremly low

Add a 62 mm throttle body, heat exchanger, and exhaust you will come out on the dyno jet around 210-215

well i got a lsj header to put on, as well as a cobra h/e (just need to get the pump), then add my meth kit and smaller pully

Not sure what size the exhaust is on the ecotec but whatever the smallest diameter spot in your exhaust system is all its gonna allow it to flow. I know I had an 1 7/8" on my car before and regardless that I had a 4-1 header and a catback , my exhaust would still only flow as good as my weakest point. Its something to look into sometime that would help you out a bit. Having a h/e and meth is definately gonna cool your charge well, you should see decent gains from that alone. I'm sure there is a place in NB that could bore out your stock TB if you wanted. I got mine done at Armstrongs in NS, think it cost around $200. At least you have a base dyno run done so now when you do something to the car you'll know how much you picked up. I had everything done to the car before I dynoed it so couldn't really find out how much gains I got out of different mods. I think you'll be happy once all your mods are done.

Take a trip out to JD Racing, not sure where you live but its probably not that far. Only an hour and 15 min from Charlottetown.

I dynoed 201 whp and 176 wtq with a 3.2" pulley, full exhaust, dual pass, mounts, and half tuned meth. I added it, tuned the fuel...sorta then didn't touch the timing. I installed the meth kit the morning before I drove to the bash. haha

Don't feel too bad.

Haha...I'd say, 474wtq and you were complaining about that . I only have a few more hp than you and I have a fair amount done to my car. You have good potential with your setup.

The m45 and m62 are two different chargers though

Exactly. The mp62 is way better. Now once he gets some supporting mods he will have decent numbers, well over 200whp and I am only at 189whp. MP62>MP45.
