Supra Turbo on the 2200?
Thursday, November 26, 2009 2:39 PM

hey guys , sorry if this question shouldnt be posted here, bout 3 weeks ago my buddy boosted his B18 integra using this redneck kit he bought for 250$.. and it was a crazy outcome.. that got me all horny for boost.. now i bought another motor for my fire that has 67k on it to replace my motor which has 240k and a bad head , i got a good deal on it so figured why not! So i got thinking after i went out in my buddies B18 Turbo ..we got talking about his supras , hes got 2 1988 supra turbos pulled from the cars , now if i ordered a header would it be possible to boost the stock 2200 to 8 ibs with no internal upgrades using that supra turbo?.. I was thinking of ordering the turbo manifold and rigging something up.. The only thing i was thinking is ordering a decent headgasket and new plugs.. Also using the same FMU setup as the B18.. Well same idea anyway? .. Could be a cheap boost? What do you guys think?.. My knowledge is pretty limited with forced induction... Also does anyone know of an active website so i could purchase my manifold.

http://www.vulcanturbo.com/GMmanifolds.html heres your manifold you asked for Im not sure if u could use that turbo . i would get a complete kit it just makes life easier and if your looking for more power why not replace your fuel pump and all other wear items like plugs and wire and get wires a nitrous kit. I mean the LN2 isnt the strongest motor stock but they are every where so replacement should not hurt to much. have fun

No such thing as cheap boost. Cheap boost ALWAYS = expensive repairs.

What is your definition of cheap? My CHEAP set up:

nissan t3
??? manifold (used from ebay)
ebay ic & pipes
vortech fmu
walbro 255
ford brown top injectors
tial wastegate
hks bov
lots of misc nickel and dime stuff
*no internal upgrades 6psi safe

All this and more... CHEAPEST with reliability - plan on spending more than you did for the whole car for an extra 75 horses (maybe) ......

I dint know about you but I am looking for a whole hell of a lot more than 75hp. I have spent WAY more on the motor build, turbo setup, trans rebuild, fuel system, brake modifications and tune than I ever paid for the car but 75hp ain't even in the discussion. Thats for people who ask the questions about cheap turbo set up's and buying stock turbos and used eebaymanifolds......

And if your leaving tune off your list you ain't getting 75hp because your car would run like @!#$. Cheap and Reliable don't work when it comes to performance. Trust me spend the cash right the first time is the cheapest route long term

Again I third that QFT.

I have way too much money into my car and the sad part is that the car is only worth 2 grand in everyone elses eyes.

Ryan did you get my pm???

If not pm me on 417Racing.com

Im just trying to say is everyone has a definition of cheap. Using my car as an example, Is my definition of "cheap boost" I spent over 2x what i did the car in boost components alone (not including tune, fuel, countless other mods). And after all that i know i could have built it better or less "cheap".

helping the op
basically get a grasp on what "cheap" is to you, if cheap boost is 500 dollars dont expect to get too far down the road. If cheap is 1000-1500 (about the area i spent on just boost components) you can get by if you know your stuff. if you dont, READ and RESEARCH. read the stickies multiple times. then hit google for more info.

I owned a mkIII supra turbo, and I know... the CT-26 sucks.

there are other much better turbos out there.. I'd avoid CT turbos as much as possible.

...it makes me laugh everytime

aside from the eco/saab connection, what are the current junkyard sourced turbo cavalier options. i know just matching flanges to manifold works, but really who has got a junkyard turbo to work WELL in a jbody application, especially ln2 setups.

I take pride in dents and dings, peeling paint, and dirty interiors. Trailer queens and over-detailed show cars, those are for suckers that can't drive.

That manifold linked to earlier with a TDO5 DSM flange, get a Bastard 16G from SlowBoyRacing.

Makes excellent power on my 1g DSM. Spools around 3,000rpm.

Really....you can put any turbo on anything..I HATE when people ask me if X turbo can go on my X car.....ANY TURBO CAN GO ON ANYTHING WITH WORK!!!!

As far as the "cheap boost" thing........i dont even know what to say...

My knowledge is pretty limited with forced induction...

this statement is going to get you in trouble and cost you a motor in the future. anything can be done but money is the deciding factor and when it comes to boost you better have enough of it. boost is an addiction. addictions are expensive.... welcome the dangerous side!!!!!!!! i would advise you to purchase a couple of books or get with someone whos knows about boost......
