Well I have been searching and can't seem to find what I'm looking for. The guys with the ecotecs, are you running some sort of engine cooler? If so what kind and how are the lines routed? My 20g gets my oil hot, so this is my next project. Just need more information. Lets discuss:...............

Apparently there are 2.4 LE5 models and 2.0 LSJs that have an oil cooler from the factory. If you would find one at a salvage yard, you'd have a good idea how to run it and where to get the feed/outlet source, and maybe pick up a dirt cheap OEM one.
you can buy an oil filter relocation kit.it comes with twin -PH-8 filters.locate to a cooler area of your choice,plus the extra capacity will run cooler too.
Im not running an oil cooler at all. as long as you keep it flowing it will self cool. Do you run a turbo timer? thats another thing that gets miscalculated, you run the car hard, come back shut it off and let it idle for 30 seconds. well in that 30 seconds all the heat that was dissipating from the wind hitting it is now just going vertical and soaking. then you shut the car off after 30 seconds and its hotter than when you are moving. its a long time but mine runs for 5 minutes to keep circulating the oil.
I do have a turbo timer. I just notice my oil pressure begins to drop when it is hot. My pressure feed is from the filter housing. It drops to about 22 psi at idle sometimes. So just getting ideas. I noticed the OEM coolers for the LE5. But what would you do with the cartridge filter? get rid of it?, or have 2 filters in your oil system?

im pulling mine from the head and i see about 18psi. im sure when you cold start its pretty high but then drops down as you keep driving which is normal since the oil is getting hotter and thinning out. Are you running an oil temp gauge? specs on your kit and boost levels?
just a FYI there is a pressure difference on the Ecotec from the head to the block. Big difference.

22 psi isnt low at all. I see below 10psi when i've been driving around for awhile, mostly in the summer though. In the winter it really never goes below 10. Also, im pulling from the head port.

Not an oil temp gauge, Just a oil pressure gauge. I'm running the hahn stg2 with 20g. 16psi. I just remember hearing that the 20g survives with 25ish or higher.

i would find a way to measure oil temp first. might save yourself some money if you dont need an oil cooler.
Ive thought aout buying one of those universal ebay kits and maybe just swapping out the cooler itself. The cost alone of the braided line and fittings is worth it lol.
On my stock 105k ld9 with an oil leak at the crank seal(lol) I see about 25psi cruising and about 12-16 sitting when fully warm.

I got these from Advance Auto Parts right off the shelf.
They have barbed fittings on them for easy hose installation, and 4 mounting holes.
I have one for oil, pre turbo, and one for trans.
Looks good, I just wouldn't know how to route mine since ECO's have the cartridge filters.

Yeah about 10 psi at the eco head off the exhaust cam is normal once up to temp.
Only time I see over 240'F off the 20G is in the middle of summer in Phoenix stop and go traffic. The Eco dissipates heat pretty well. Even after running 20 minute road course events I have not seen over 240 and this is coming right off the turbo (Ambients here are still comfortable 70"F though). I also am looking for a cooling solution though because it does sit around 230'F while under constant track beatings. Some of the road courses out here have very long straights so it heats up quick and I need to find something before real desert heat hits for track use. The closest I have found for a simple bolt on solution where oil volume is large enough worth cooling is via Hamburgers Performance filter bypass adapter. I was actually meaning to call them this afternoon to confirm that the adapter they make does in fact work with our cartridge style oil filter but didn't get a chance. I have really been wanting to find more info on it for well over a year but until now really haven't needed it. I will be calling them tomorrow to confirm because the picture they show looks like its for a spin on style filter however, they do list the engine designation as L61 so theres a good chance its a picture discrepancy.
If the adapter is the correct one this is not a cheap solution as the adaptor alone is $103 and you will still need a heat exchanger, lines, mounting solution, and fittings.
I'll let you guys know what I find out tomorrow.

oil pressure is going to drop when it heats up. its normal. i wouldnt worry about it unless your goals are for race applications.

Summit had the same adapter listed on there site and i called them months ago about it and they said it was a typo and that Hamburgers Performance doesnt have an adaptor for a 2.2 eco.
Yep I confirmed today with Hamburgers Performance there are no cartridge style oil bypass adapters. They have been prototyping a few for some other applications but even those are a long ways off. They know that the newer engines are all starting to go cartridge so they are working on it. MAYBE in the future, but at this point I wouldn't hold your breath.

Already done and when your in boost for 20 minutes straight ceramic coating only gets you so far. When I get done with each race the turbo looks more like a cherry then anything (= Ceramic coating helps but its not enough. Maybe if I get some time I'll show you what happens to aluminized fire cloth even at distance from the turbo under these conditions (=

Normal rule of thumb is 10psi for every 1k rpm... oil consistencies will factor into that also though so maybe a little less once up to temp or after some autoxing or drag runs.
