20g gone bad in short time

Hello guys. For you vet boosted eco guys. I need a hand....eeww you guys are gross..not that way...jk.

Been boosted for 3 months with a rebuilt 20g. Now I'm seeing signs of the seals wearing. Basically I come to a stop every now and then it blows white smoke. I'm running open exhaust so cant make out if its coming from the exhaust or what,

This is my first eco. Bought a built motor from a friend. Runs god except that dam smoke. My oil feeds from the filter housing/oil drain at the pan.

My question is: Is the filter housing location to much for the 20g?
How much PSI should 20g see/comfortable?
How long do I have before the turbo poops?
Anyone selling a turbo? haha

I use a turbo timer to always cool down the turbo. Maybe it time for a coolant/ oil cooled turbo.
Any advise is greatly appreciated, ... for Ima blow up the car!

Paul

White smoke suggests water, not oil. If your turbo is not water-cooled, you may want to check your engine compression...

My coolant is fine. My compression is good. It only happens when approaching a stop. Only happens once. I hope it's not early stages of turbo failure

Don't wait too laong to get it serviced...the sooner the better if it's hurting internally. Can save you some real $$$ if the damage is not yet severe.

how did you tap into the oil filter housing? post pics. did you restrict the oil feed? most common restriction is a 0.060-0.065" restriction in the line or at the turbo inlet.

This was my friends setup. He was telling me I might not have enough pressure, I'll get picks. Of course when the oil warms up, at idle I get less then 25 psi. Maybe like 15. My friend went through 2 turbo's in a little over a year. Something is up. Would I really need a restricter?

all turbo's should be restricted. if there not then your taking precious oil pressure away from the engine to feed the turbo. how did he tap into the oil filter housing? post pics. 15psi warm oil pressure is a bit low.

The overall engine's bearing flow is dozens of times what a turbo can flow. A turbocharger flows about as much oil as one cam bearing on an engine. It's not possible for a turbocharger to flow enough oil to create internal engine issues. Further buttressing this point is the fact that at most RPM conditions off idle, the stock oil pump pressurer relief valve is in play...there is always excess oil flow being partially bypassed to the sump.

We do not use restrictors unless we have a ball-bearing turbo that requires it, or in the case of controlling turbo oiling for other factors. None of our turbosystems use restrictors save for those rare exceptions.
