My pvc or breather fliter is soaked in oil, the damn thing is spewing oil everywhere( only when driving of course) any reason why its doing that?
And any recommendations for a catch can?

If it is a whole lot, you could potentially have bad rings. Some boosted people with breathers do experience a light mist in the engine bay, but it should not be horrible. The catch can can only do so much. You can always do a wet/dry compression test to find out if your rings are good, pretty quick thing to do.
Yea, im boosted its not that bad i guess its a build up over time? how do you go about doing the compression test?

Does your intake pipe have oil in it? Id recommend a catch can for any boosted vehicle, Im using a nice aluminum baffled one with breather on top and drain on bottom I got from ebay, its not a cheap ebay one though.
Its tons of those things on ebay, are they universal or what?

Yes they can be universal.
you are boosting the crank case is the reason you have oil coming out of there. you need to do a proper pcv setup on the car.
I cut out the baffles on my valve cover for the roller swap and it started throwing oil into my lines slightly, and over time worked it's way up to the intake. I just put a catch can between the valve cover and intake. Works fine.
Sounds like a can will solve all your issues. I don't think it has any compression issues.
Yea, like mentioned, it is kinda normal to have some oil without a can. A catch can and proper PCV setup will take care of a lot of it.
If you have a breather now, and have oil in your charge pipes, you have way bigger problems. Oil in the intake tube is usually from a bad PCV system, not one that doesn't exist. If you had a tube that goes from the valve cover into the charge pipe with no catch can or check valve (which is a HORRIBLE idea) than it would be expected that you have some oil in there.
If you want to do the compression test for the heck of it, you will need a compression tester (which you might be able to rent for free at Autozone) and some oil. First, take a spark plug out and attach the tester. Then crank the motor. You should get between 175-190 PSI (I can't remember exactly). After this, take the tester out and squirt some oil in the cylinder. If your number gets significantly higher, you have bad rings. Repeat for all cylinders.
Although, you mentioned it took a while for yours to build up. So it probably is not your rings.
I just went on Ecotec forum and saw Skunks wrtie for this issue, I need to vent my vavle cover more... Should Help the oil issue and my engine

intake manifold you have? If stock, your pcv system is not being used correctly and that is why. You don't need more ventilation, you need proper ventilation. Stock mani can't. Do it. I have a cobalt valve cover on mine with the proper hook up done and no oil in any of my lines.
I have the M62 mani and gasket i think it blocks off the PCV

not for a supercharged car you don't need to vent the valve cover.
my carDomain updated 3/2/10 Forged and Supercharged

Did you cut the intake manifold gasket like your suppose to?
My PVC system is set-up according to the build book install instructions and i still get alittle oil out the breather.
No i don't think i cut it...Yikes...

mines installed to the gm instructions with a zzp mani spacer as well so there is plenty room, but I still get a little oil out the breather.
catch can+breather filter=problem solved. Or catch can+ tube back into intake piping for a cleaner then stock system.
