How many internal changes would a person have to make to safely run 15lbs of boost on the 90 2.2 TBI, i plan to use head studs,4.3 throttle body and injector, Sunbird turbo MAP sensor, fuel regulator, a Garrett T25 + BOV and inter-cooler. I have heard that using 2 head gaskets is a easy way to lower compression, is this reliable?
You might be able to run 15 PSI if you can get it enough fuel and adjust the spark timing. You NEVER want to use a thick head gasket to lower compression, it will greatly increase the chance of detonation and/or pre-ignition.
Get some low compression pistons. This would be the safe thing to do. Build it right from the start and it will be reliable.
I have a spare LT3 block with low compression forged pistons, can those be fitted to the 2.2 ? that would be perfect.
