LC-1 failure

my wideband started acting screwy. If i hit the gas WOT, it will read normal afr's thru first and some of second, then it shoots like an arrow for its MAX value and just stays there the rest of the way thru 2nd and thru all of third. then i shut down and coast for a while. after about 20 seconds, it flips back on and reads normal AFRs again. I have my LEDs mounted in the engine bay, so i cant get any codes that might be present (i know, good idea, i see why now). But, i was wondering if you guys have had the same problems before and can shed any light of the subject. I think the sensor is over heating.

Sounds like the sensor is going bad.

Usually if there is a code it stays blinking until you reset the sensor (example power off and power back on). I have never heard of this issue. When was the last time it was calibrated?
