How does everyone else with an M62 go about routine oil changes. The filter is such a pain to get to I usually just start disconnecting my intake and fishing the filter out and back in, but I thought there has to be an easier way so I was looking to see what everyone else does?
*watching*
I usually unbolt, seperate the cap from the filter, reach under the blower, remove cap, then remove filter the same way.

Long adapter. Keep cap stuck in there, but squeeze the cartridge out, squeeze new one in. Rag underneath to soak up leaking oil (inevitable)
12" extension for my ratchet, long set of pliers down the same location to maneuver the cap so i can grab it with my left hand that is wedged between the rad support and charger, then snake it out under the throttle body. But my battery is relocated and im just running a cone filter on the end of the TB.
Just use a long extension to get the cap off. Then a lot of towels to sop up the oil that spills all over and work it out between the intake and battery. Pain in the butt. But no ones else is gonna do it lol
I guess what really got me thinking about this was while I was changing it over the weekend. There has to be some easy trick someone knows. You know there are people with cobalt SS's that take the car in for oilchanges. I dont mind my method of fishing the filter out between the intake and the battery was jw if someone knew a GM seceret to this.
I've heard people say "you have to take off the charger".
no way would i take the blower off every 3k it doesn't take 5 minutes to fish the filter out. btw tinkles if your car on tein ss's in your sig pic?
No, the car is still on air. But the goal is to have the Teins on by the 27th of this month.
i bought one of those flat oil filter sockets off ebay. using a long extension to loosen the cap. oh wait, i rotated my battery 90 degrees so now i have plenty of room between my radiator & intake. sorry.
my carDomain updated 6/11/10 Forged and Supercharged
I leave the charger on, like s1lver_N1p said I just use the ebay socket and snake it out under the charger but I got my battery in the trunk and I have an intake and blower phenolic spacer so that gives me a little more room to play with. Before I had the spacers i used to remove the intake and throttle body and snake it out under the blower.
