2.2 OHV 2002 Turbo Cavy Question
Saturday, July 24, 2010 10:42 PM
I have a t3 .48 trim turbo with RC 195 injectors, and heres the deal. The car doesnt have a tune, but its ran great for the most part. When I get to boosting around 5 psi with the wastegate spring set at 7psi on a tial setup, the car wants to cut out due to a fuel cut issue I think. So I was going to up the injectors to 560cc out of an evo which it should swap over due to the harnesses being the same with the RC injectors, but thought I might try 110 octane fuel first. I dont have a fmu, but I do have a walbro 255 in the tank. Im 95% there with my project, please help me get over the top.

Get the bigger injectors and tune it. No need for a FMU if you HP Tuners. And 195's are way too small.

With this quote being said, I hope you blow your shi!t up. You have no fu(kin clue what you are doing or talking about. Fill out your profile, THE CORRECT WAY, and don't get a newby attitude. Remember, you made the tread and asked the questions. People with a lot more knowledge and experience are trying to help/guide you, but you appear to be too fu(king stupid to listen...

you have to tune larger injectors, the ecu doesn't have any idea that you have larger injectors for one,it will over fuel cuz the pulse width on your stock setup isn't the same as pw on bigger inj. if you're not going to tune and you stay at low boost use the fmu,all you have to do is figure out the proper rate of gain and get an adj fmu it's easier .

Do you even have a wideband? From the info you provided, you are "wishing" for your engine to blow up. Provide some more info on exactly what you have for your setup, so that the "Experts" , certainly not me , on here can help you out. Don't get bent out of shape when "Open & Honest" communication is being put forward to you. This is how you learn, especially in a Forum type setting.

Sorry guys I mean i dont want to tune it but I will if that is what needs to be done. I was tlking to a guy near me who specializes in forced induction and was thinking about a sfmu neo but didnt know it that would do it. Also I tried putting bigger injectors in the blue top DSM's it ran great for a min then went back to @!#$ does anyone have blue tops in their car? if so lemme know how u got them to fit please. I also did put the resistor to change to low from high so its at the right OHMs.

The setup so far is

48 trim turbo
Turboxs BOV
Intercooler
450 DSM injectors
Walbro 255

i think that is about it

wanna know anything else just ask

Simplified: NO TUNE = BIG BOOM.

Mitch Lenski wrote: I just need some help finishing it up

If it's not finished, you shouldn't be driving it.

As far as the injectors.... you need to understand how the system works. Stock you have 19# injectors, the car fuels X% with these injectors. If you stick, say, 42.5# injectors in... the car is not going to see that the fuel range increased, and it's still going to fuel X% of those injectors, which, in this case, would almost double fueling. For the car to run, you NEED to change the injector constant with HPTuners, the PCM will then make the necesary fueling adjustment to compensate for the larger injectors.

Hey, if the shoe fits....

Tune your car. It's that simple. Sure, it's a little more money to do it correct the first time, but you'll be regretting half-assing it later when your engine goes BOOM.

ok heres the deal I went to the junkyard and got used oem injectors for the car, out of the ohv motor. I went to put them in and I get injector open circuit across all my injectors I was wondering why that is? I didnt do anything to the wiring could those injectors be bad? I doubt it but what else could it be the car is rejecting them? Got any ideas for injectors I have the tune which Im saving up for, but I need to get the damn car to run so I can move it to the shop to be tuned.

I had my car towed to the tuners shop on a flat bed truck. AAA Son. Get it. Then tune you Sh!t. Don't get upset when Ryan tells you your going to blow your motor. If Ryan says KaBOOOM dude its KaBOOOM!

Ok I understand all that with the car needing a tune, but I dont understand why Im getting an open circuit with the oem injectors out of a ohv 2.2. The car wont start going to try the old rc injectors that car came with so I can at least move it. I do need everyone to not give up on me, just I want to get the right injectors so my time at the tune will come out with positive numbers.

Earlier in the thread you said you put int the resistors, then you said you never messed with the wiring. Which one is it? What year did you get the "stock" injectors out of?

did you plug the injector harness back in when you removed the fuel rail? the odds of all injectors failing is slim to none.
