just wondering when you go to hook up the pump which one is the ground and which is the positive? there are no markers on either wire?

yeah thats what i thought to tinkles. but their both white im confused as to why. and one would usually have a black stripe on in indicating neg but it doesnt

Are there marks on the pump maybe ? Only other way is to test it with some water going through it
what will happen if there hooked up backwards?

take the plug off on the inside on the pump side there are markings
