1400 HP Turbo Ecotec Build some pictures

Working with a customer overseas who is building a turbo ecotec drag car.

So far, I have pictures of the complete head which will be used on his engine. This head is exactly the same head that GM was using in their racing program minus a different set of cams (something else that the customer wanted)

LSJ Head
Fully CNC Ported & Polished
Custom Springs
Ti Retainers
Spring Seats
Guides
Valve Stem Seals
Keepers
Valves (bigger than stock)
Billet Rocker Arms
Solid Lifters
Billet Cams (custom specs)
O-Ringed Head

Head was drilled out for bigger head studs (1/2"). Head was also machined for the bigger springs which are installed and the bigger valves which are installed as well.

With this setup along with all the other parts that he has and or will have, he should have a 1350-1500 hp ecotec engine for his drag car.

Here are some pictures of the head that I just took before I box it up and ship it overseas.

Before anyone askes, yes this head was VERY expensive. Will I ever sell another one? I hope not, it was a PITA to deal with, and frankly, not enough money in it to make it worth all the hours I put into making sure everything was done right and everything was ready to go.

If you guys want higher res pictures, just let me know and I'll post them up. If you need anymore info about this head please let me know.

My god....

Those cams look similar to Wenzel's, care to share their dimensions or are they being all secretive and lame? I'm building an LD9 so you can tell me, I promise I won't be building a 1400hp Eco any time soon, lol

Transporter7220: For Bens cam specs, you need to ask him. I'm not one to kiss n tell if you know what I mean. As for these cams, they are .490+ lift and the duration, I dont know off the top of my head (need to find his cam card), but I wont give exact specs as its customer supplied specs.

ammfab: Are you asking for better pictures of the head ports?

Yeah one of 3 in existence or something like that? Plus he's the only private person to have them I believe.

Epicness is coming. Are you ready?

Yep, something stupid like that. The cam company in Europe makes about 50 different grinds for the Ecotecs... Sold 3 sets so far, 1 to Ben and the other 2 have gone to race teams who do dirt racing with Ecotecs.

Tinkles, I just sent you a PM.

i have a quad head thats had extensive work like this done to it... it has the same steel rings above the bolt holes... when you bore them larger does that area become weaker or something? or are they just for added strength? or does the aluminum start to buckle?

sorry for the 20 questions, just curious thats all.

looks amazing karo, great job.

No clue what car its going in: Guess I'll make the phone call and ask to see what car its going into.

As for the rings above the holes, I have no clue. I'll make a phone call and see what the reason for it is Altho, I assume its for added strength from the amount of force from the bigger stud/nut and the amount of pressure thats about to be put on the alum. head?

Depending on the cams you go with you are looking at apx a 6500-7000$ head right there, complete ready to go.

Oh your right, I know that. I just never figured a head, let alone a 4 cylinder head would cost that much lol

That head alone is worth more than the KBB of any car on this site .

Do you have a linke to the EU company that does the cam grinds? I'm guessing if they were easily interchangable with the L61 head we would have them already?

With everything done to the head everything adds up real quick...

Not like a v8 head that with minimal work it can support big HP... when you are revving 11K+ and pushing 100x stock HP out of a head you need parts that will last...

They fit on L61 heads and LSJ heads without any problems. The real big problem is the big price tag on them. Compared to comp cams its apx about 3-4 times the price. For the avg person the gains are not worth the $ spent. But for those who want every little bit it helps.

Very good point sir. Still having about 50 different grinds available (and some know how in selecting them) might be worth it to some serious builders. More serious than me lol. @!#$, i don't even think the most popular honda engines have that many grinds available (K and/or B series)
