I would love a race ported head for the motor I am gonna be putting together. Very interested to see what kind of flow you can pull out of an ld9 head.

ive got one with a slight chunk in the combustion chamber, you can use it to cut up and actually look for water jackets and how far you can port.

i think it goes without saying that i am interested...

hells yea boys. this could be a great option for us. ammfab- id love to see how much you can get out of the exhaust side. i have a feeling there is some substantial meat there and most of it can be removed. as for flow numbers, most people just run HO cams so if you have a lift number to shoot for, go for .410.

(wheres todd so he can give this guy some pointers? LOL)

Mike, I can probably get the head to you sometime this up coming week.

Im usually off work around 1-4pm and work downtown. PM me and let me know where you would want to do this. I assume, like the rest of us you actually have a day job.

ok ive got some options as it seems, so if somebody wants a head ported this is my base pricing for 4 cylinder 16 valve heads........

street- 600.00 (hitting key spots)
street/strip- 775.00 (full porting of both sides)
race- 950.00 (even more porting both sides + combo work)

now since i havent done any ld9 heads (keep in mind that was my first eco also lol) ill do a proto on one with a street strip port + combo work. the reason i would do only street strip porting is i dont wanna port a whole lot like the race porting will get cause i dont know what my limits are. i wont know that until i get a junk head to disect. so if somebody wants to front a head to port ill do the street strip + CC's for the reduced price of 700.00 which will include before and after flowbenching and print outs. its still a little steep for a proto but flow benching and machine work alone will cost over 350.00. and it will be no hack job i promise u that. if anybody sounds interested then let me know. i will also have to narrow down who to get the cores from.

thanks guys

mike

Watching.......If you cut a head in half to examine port wall thickness...could we get some pics??

Just curious how thick the walls actually are!

id love to see pics of the cut up one. definitely do that when you get the chance.

karo's head was massive on the exhaust side (from what i can tell in pics) and we all know what that motor acomplished. so id like to see what you can come up with....

ohh... what do you know of piston matching the combustion chambers? would it even be possible?

Too bad im not running an LD9 head on my build. Id love to have one with your quality work. Id also to see what could be done to an 086 head. mine had PnP job it has roughly 15k on the head but I know the exhaust side has more meat to remove.
