Saab turbo questions
Thursday, September 02, 2010 6:32 PM
So I am going with the Saab high output turbo setup. Going to remove all the stuff from the Saab tuesday I can use the high output on a built l61 right? I know it will bolt up but I shouldn't be worried about my compression ratio or anything wild right? Also the saabs don't have intercoolers? Also I have the list of stuff to pull any wierd tools? The car is a 2003 Saab and the guy said to bring 200 bux and whatever I want off it but it's 1 hour away so I wanna bring every tool I'll need! Also anything else worth while to pull while I am there??
Thx
Jason

the saabs do not run intercoolers but you can use them. Also look at getting the saab intake manifold, if you dont use it im sure you can sell it to make some of your $ back. Which great deal btw

the intake manifold is a direct swap yes. as far as intercooler piping you can run it however you want i ran mine on my old setup on top because i liked the bling factor lol, some run all the piping underneath as well though (auto trans btw)..

as far as i remember the saab setup is all just 10 and 13mm.

also i dont know what your plans are, but i would recommend getting all of the oil and coolant lines, unless you are going to use ss lines and -an fittings like i did. (i used the saab oil drain). also im not sure what the downpipe is like. Might want to cut that for the hell of it. I used the brandonson downpipe on my setup. injectors wouldnt be a bad idea either.. (im trying to think of anything that might help you)

turbo
turbo manifold
downpipe - may be able to use the flange..
injectors
intake manifold
wastegate
Oil feed and return lines
Coolant feed and return lines
Stock Saab charge pipes- if i remember right you can cut them to fit..

and jason someone did a write up a while back ill find it here in a minute when i get off my phone..

Edit the writeup i found is here..

that statement is false the 9-3 does have an intercooler if i remember its a fullsize intercooler that mounts infront of the AC condenser
