What are the rest of you runnin for a drain? I'm tapped at the top of my pan above the drain plug as high as I can go, the line travels under the trans and straight up to the turbo drain. Using a -10 steel braided line as well. Is this insufficient w/ a .060 restrictor off the driver side oil galley?

i removed the pan and drilled and welded a -8 fitting above the oil baffle. my -8 braided line goes across the tranny/differential housing and up to the turbo. i have a -8 45 degree hose fitting on the oil drain flange to minimze the hose angle so kinks or calapse are prevented. im also using a .060" orifice feed restrictor and im having no issues.
If you have a Ecotec you should always use the girdle for oil return.

mines tapped at the girdle...
My drain is not running correctly. Unfortunately, I can't run my drain over my trans and into the girdle do to the manifold and the spacer. It'd make a 90' bend right off the turbo's drain flange. Looks like I'm going to have to run the Atomic top-mount in order to get enough of the drain to be verticle down to the girdle.
There goes $700... plus a new downpipe... Yippie.

Son of a bitch.... Thanks for letting me know. Any ideas for a top mount?

so you cant re clock the turbo so that the drain would angle more towards the girdle

i can but doesn't that risk oil pooling inside the turbo if the feed and drain aren't vertical? That's what the guys at Garrett told me. If not, how much can I rotate it in order to achieve the desired angle before I run into drain issues again? If it can work I like the idea...

Turns out the turbo sits too close to the trans and can't be angled towards the girdle. Just checked. Anyone ever run into these issues? Constant clearance problems w/ the log manifolds...

The rule of thumb is to not rotate it more than 15 degrees either way from vertical.
Ya that makes sense. Still can't even do that. If only the turbo sat higher....

Who makes a manifold that won't run into clearance issues w/ the compressor housing getting too close to the motor or auto trans? Firewall is not an issues as I can always alter that if it gets in my way.

thats a broad statement...
Mines in the pan with no problems....
All hahn kits go to the pan...
Actually Hahn now makes a kit for the 2.4l LE5 that utilizes a special drag that doesn't require tapping or drilling. Works on autos too.
