misfire problem
Saturday, October 23, 2010 9:31 PM
i just put my 80lb injectors in i got from arrival. for constant i got 24/80*.178=.0534. the motor is running fine when it is accelerating or in higher rpm but just cruising it will misfire like crazy. i tried to richen and lean it but same problem. my wideband is working perfectly but when it is misfiring it reads 14.5-15.0 which i dont understand

it appears to be doing it at 8-19% tps

i swapped the ICM with one i took off my running parts car, put a map sensor from that car in it to, same problems

Try the tps sensor

i was thinking that but hptuners vcm scanner can see it step all the way through the numbers, theres like no glitch or anything so i think that would eliminate that

Crap I meant to say IAC I know the car idles mostly normal but that valve affects things while driving too. But at the same time won't be noticable when your getting on it.

i wasnt aware it affected the car while not at idle. ill be sure to throw on my other throttle body tonight and see what happens. im probably going to get new plugs to

I was just thinking did you lap the valves when you put them in the head? Maybe they aren't sealing properly. You wouldn't notice when you were getting on it but definitely at lower rpms.

it was running 100 percent perfect with the stock injectors just would bog when you first hit the accelerator. so i dont beleive that is my problem. im going to put my other fuel rail with stock injectors on and put on stock tune and see what happens. also, it doesnt do it hardly at all when cold

i just put my stock injectors back in to verify everything else was ok and it runs great, so what could cause the injectors to make the car misfire but still run a normal afr?

Ve could be rich but due to the misfires of the injectors its showing not rich since they aren't all firing.

What do your fuel trims look like? Have you logged it with your wideband connected?

i havent logged it with hpt yet, havent had to much time lately, my constant is .590 and it was stock ve tables.i know it wont run great since its not fine tuned but i figured it would atleast get me a base. the correct constant is .0534 but it was running really lean
.

i know it is a very butch way of tuning and setting it up i just wanted it to run so i can have it ready for when my friend does the tuning. i would right away think my tunning is off because i know it is i was just confused on the misfire only between 8-18 percent tps and the wideband ready normal afrs

If you switched fuel rails and the problem went away then perhaps something is wrong with the fuel rail. I dont know what it could be though. Are you using the same fuel pressure regulator? If not maybe the one on the other fuel rail is faulty.

Soon I will be helping him hook his wideband up to my HPtuners so we can do some data logging and get the VE straight. That will help. What AFR do you recomend? I am thinking 11.5 he is saying 11 to be safe.

I run most of my customers cars around 11.7-11.9 range... Mine I run 11.7-12.2 depending on fuel.

We just need to data log, it could be a spike in the VE that the gauge isn't catching.
