ever since i got my 3" pully put on and tuned, whenever i step on the gas to accelerate hard im getting black smoke out the tail pipe. what would be causing this? im tuned to ~11.8 AFR at WOT

black smoke generally means you're way to rich. Do you have meth injection?

the 11.8 afr at wot. I'm running 12.2 afr with the 2.8 pulley and I'm also getting black smoke, but not nearly enough to notice, unless you're the person behind me and actually looking for it.

Black smoke is just carbon(unburnt fuel). As long as your tune is fine dont worry about it.

Then go over your tune again and check your plugs to see how the engine is running.

Just put a stack on your car and tell everyone its a diesel lol jk like stated above its just unburnt fuel ^^^^^^^^ agree with you kyle that he should check plugs for carbon build up there

We are tuned for 11.9 and we get black smoke all the time!
My cobalt is tuned for 11.3 right now, I get some back smoke. I am on a 2.8 and 60's. I also have a 3" cat.

What issue? Black smoke on a boosted car is normal. You want to see black smoke over no black smoke.

I still think thats kind of on the rich side. if you can lean it out without having to pull timing you'll make more power.

On my personal car (non Eco) I go 12.0-12.2. If I'm tuning for someone I go 11.7 in boost. Seeing the Eco is touchy on ringlands I think that is a nice safe AFR.
