Retarded Fuel Economy
Monday, February 28, 2011 10:50 PM
Alright guys, I was just wondering how everyone with supercharged eco's are running for there gas mileage. I cant even get more than 240 km (about 150 miles) to a tank of premium on the highway doing the speed limit...

Its basically just the M62 with the gm tune, and a catback. Nothing to serious right now but I cant drive this thing to and from work when I have to put 25-30 bucks of premium in a day... The fuel pump was replaced about a month ago, the air filter is clean, the fuel filter is brand new, the spark plugs are brand new, what else could it be? The CES pops on once and a while but I havent had the chance to get them scanned (been driving a ranger all winter but its on its last legs here). Any ideas what it could be?

I would hate to sell this car after years of waiting to get it eco swapped and supercharged... but I just cant afford 500 dollars a month just driving to work...

had a blown ecotec swapped 2000 cavy, now just an 02 Grand Am, and a 74 BMW 2002...

I get 25 and I blame it on my fpr being retarded and the stock exhaust. I blame a good bit of your issue on the crap flash but theres also something else going on ad you should get it scanned.

I've got over 400 miles out of a tank on road trips many a times using the reflash or HPT. You definitely have a problem.

Haven't filled the tank and checked yet, but I'll let you know what I see. But from my wallet being lighter, it does seem to drink more. I used to get 25 city in the city and 28 on roadtrips to California.

Just throwing this out there as a possibility: how do you know your sending unit is accurate? It MAY be on its way out.

I got 30-31mpg on a 95% highway trip once(M62, stock exhaust). Im getting ~27mpg with my current setup.

with that piss poor fuel economy you should have a check engine light staring at you. i would stop driving it because your going to wash the cylinders out and foul plugs. what does your afr gauge read? did you put the 2.5 bar map sensor on when you did the flash? if not, is your stock map sensor connected?

Really, how are you managing that out? Lol.

Well on my Cavalier (3.1 pulley, intercooled with phenolic spacer, GM flash, K&N intake, and LSJ header with 2.0" Borla cat-back) I am getting 22.4mpg city/25.7mpg mixed/and have yet to test highway.

HAHAHAHAAHAHAAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA

The GM crapflash is a @!#$ joke and so was the stock exhuast. It is all about how you drive. Stay out of boost and PE and you will get good/decent fuel economy.

You were on stock exhaust? Missed that part, I wish I could get it that good. I should be close with my current tune though, since I was getting 26 mpg average with DCFO turned off to tune my coast down map. I'm getting there.

Well I figured I'd update this for anyone who cares as I saw it at the top. My fuel mileage is at around 520 km to a tank of premium with stop and go and highway driving. I don't know if the fuel filter and pump were the culprits but its running way better now.
