bluuuh. more m62 help please!
Monday, May 09, 2011 12:24 PM
So, after finishing the install and getting the gm reflash today, the car had a funny idle. Just a slight surge. Cel came on and it was the idle air control. Any ideas? Does this just go bad all of a sudden? Seems weird. Thanks!!

Recheck your wiring. My car had running issues at first and it was poor crimps in the new connectors

Especially on cars with higher mileage. More miles = more part failure.

Hey guys, yeah the car that the m62 kit got put on was mine.I have only 63k miles. I don't think its a vacuum leak because my boost gauge is reading 20 in vacuum and i think if it was it would read alot lower? Is 20 normal at idle? i read to unplug the iac harness on the throttle body and if idle went normal its the valve so i unplugged the iac the idle kicked up to a steady 1500 so i assume it isn't bad. Also, even on a cold start up,my fans kick on and stay on til i turn the car off but when i do they don't continue to run,my temp gauge is normal so it's not overheating. I just didn't think all these problems would arise on the install. The plugs that i installed and drove home with after the reflash were the NGK LTR6IX-11 gapped to .035 which i heard alot of people were running with no problems so i thought that was weird, currently i am running the champion srt-4 plugs gapped at .035 and it runs better but today it seemed puttery like after the flash so im gonna pull them and see what they look like and i figured i might swap them out for a stage colder delco plug gapped to the same. Other than these problems it seems just fine, gettin 10lbs of boost but i've just been cruising on it lately because im unsure if damage is happening,no knock or anything,a/f is 14.2-15.5 at idle and cruising, Any other help or advice is greatly appreciated! thank you

heres is mine

zzp s3 heat exchanger
dual ic endplate
ls1 fuel regulator 32 psi
one step colder spark plugs ngks gap 0.32
stock m62 pulley
80lbs deka injectors
at idel is between 14.5 and 15.6 500 rpms
stock air intake
full boost 10 psi 10.5 steady
vacuum gauge and boost at idel 25 vacuum
pacesetter headers 4 to 1
3 inch from header all the way back no cat
its auto so it runs a little hotter a little above 195 mark all the time
car has been on full boost and with the ac on and has no lag at all.

Well, the weird idle turned out to be the nipple on the throttle body adapter that I was supposed to connect to(auto) or cap off if manual,so I threw a vacuum cap on it the other day and now the idle is back to normal. The reason I didn't cap it off in the first place was a friend has a blown J and he said his ran @!#$tier with it capped so I figured what's the difference, o'well thats my mistake.Yesterday I started hearing kind of a belt squealing sound but the belt has clearance and isn't rubbing, and there's no slack in the belt so I don't think its that, a friend told me to go poke around with a stethoscope and see if I can pinpoint it. I was hearing it could be a possible bad tensioner pulley(but it's new) so I don't know, we'll see.
